Next time I am calling Mrs. Troyer, lol to get some of that good baking, lolMy privilige. Feel free to call anytime.
Awe! I love it that you are enjoying them!Well it’s been an eventful day. We were headed on some errands this morning when my mom spotted something struggling in a ditch full of water. I quickly turned around and found it was a deer submerged up to its head in water. My first thought was to hop down and pull it out and up the bank but upon further investigation, the poor thing had its tongue sticking out and seemed to be somehow badly internally injured, clearly hit by a car. It started flailing awfully because it was scared of me so i quickly backed away. I was parked in the middle of the road just on the other side of a curve on a 55 mph road bescause I mean what else would I do to try to help an animalUnfortunately I knew there was nothing I could do other than call the police to come out the poor thing out of its terrible misery. On the way back home I saw that someone had thankfully come and taken care of the poor thing. I wish I could have done more but unfortunately she was too far gone. On a better note I decided to try something knew for my little picked on hen today. She’s a little buff orpington who is just the lowest in the pecking order, and although she is healed physically she is very very nervous in my main flock still. She paces ehich draws attention to her and the other pick on her a bit. I have my Cubalayas seperate currently since I want to eventually breed them, and they are in a nice smaller coop and run I have next to my main coop. I figured why not try her in there since she’s been next to them for a long time now. She tried to become the head hen and chased a few in circles but I was happy to see the one hen (who I jokingly call Henifer Lopez
) stood up to her and let her know it wouldn’t be tolerated to beat up the six of them. The buff seems to still be the boss lady in there but they do very well together now. Glad to have these sweet little hens who are nice to all my birds I’ve tried them with. Thanks again @troyer its a privilege to have these girls
