Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Some pictures for you.

My son and Buzz.

My wood chip run.

And as much as I have been whining about the cold and rain. We had a beautiful double rainbow over the house this morning. And then I was trapped in the chicken coop while it poured for about 5 minutes.

Tomorrow is the youth hunt and my son is hunting. He is beside himself at the moment because there is a little buck in the back field right now. He has the binoculars glued to his face... "Mom, if it was just tomorrow I would shoot him!" Hopefully the little guy comes back for him tomorrow.

I told them that I'll put them all in my freezer before I'll give them away.
Good for you!

I sold some eggs at the last MG meeting and 1 woman said my price was too high ($3/doz), she said she could get them from her cousin for a dollar. I said go ahead then and she sheepishly said that he live too far away. I sold eggs that night but none to her.

When I visit my next door neighbor my dogs like to lay in front of her wood stove, too. If they can push her dogs out of the way. Her dogs are bigger than my dogs so sometimes it's a little tough to do. It is a very nice stove though. I'm only a bit jealous because my great room is 70 degrees this morning though the house is set at 65. It's the heat pipes running through the garage and basement as it circulates between the stove and the hot tub on the other end of the house. Oh yeah, that's right, I've got a wood fired hot tub with this system.

Best of luck to your son! I just picked up all my licenses yesterday!

Good for you too!!

What auction are you referring to? Where is it?
The ravenna one. It is under new ownership, and the last several times i was there it was really depressing. I'm sure it has a lot to do with it being fall, and usually fall brings in the unwanted cockerals, but now it's gotten to the point that people looking for hens are even being outbidded on point of lay pullets so others can eat them! I understand people gotta eat, but there's enough roosters floating around! The first part of spring brings better clientelle looking for pullets and chicks

let me know if the mustard trick works, I have an egg eater too, but I don't know which one!
he he he or you could use hotsauce, then you'll know the one because she'll be the one hanging at the water dish for a while......................

HUH! Sheesh, I barely break even with the 1.50-2 I sell for. I sell them for $1.50 if they bring their own containers, and $2 if they don't. I am very upfront about that. The cost to buy egg cartons is 49 cents. SO... Everyone who buys from me brings cartons in trade, but one lady just brings a bucket or a coffee can. Last week, it was her lunch bag. LOL. BUT heck, if she can get them for a dollar, more power to her. Family always sells cheaper to family. I would not sell my eggs for a dollar either. I have a freezer than needs filling. At a dollar, it would not pay for the bag of feed I buy every week. AND now with feed costs having gone up, it barely pays for that, and now too, with winter on the way, I'll be using more feed since foraging will not be in the cards as much.
