Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Woo hoo!!! Just got my first chicken egg in 2 1/2 weeks! It's a very light brown and large so it pretty much has to be the new girl Squawk has returned to laying. I was afraid that since she spends a lot of time in the small patch of woods between our house and the neighbors, that I would never get her eggs... she's a bit of a wild child! But, it was right in the nesting box where it should. I am fairly sure that my BO hasn't started laying yet... her comb is just starting to get points on it... plus, I think if it was a first egg, it would be smaller.

So... eggcited

Raz,

I can't believe you like the black walnuts... First time I tried them, I was convinced that I didn't like any walnuts for about a year until Christmas the following year came around and I tried English walnuts. Of course I was a kid, but I tried them again last year just to make sure. They're far too bitter for my taste. I'll stick with my good old English walnuts.

I have heard that black walnuts cook very well into pies, though if you really like them. Might be worth a try.

It looks like you had a good day and a good turn out for the up North CS.
I'm really bummed that I had to miss it.

Had a good trip today. It's always a plus to bring home one less bird than you took! Our new addition has been named Cotton. Had a nice time visiting and eyeballing birds. My trip back I saw two deer, two coyote and two rainbows. Stopped at Jay's at the wrong time as it was crawling with hunters, and didn't find the two things I wanted.

Tonight my son got a doe. His face says it all. There was no complaints from him that there wasn't horns involved. He and dad are off showing it off now. On my way out to the field to pick them up I was treated to yet another rainbow, this one full and double.
