. I felt guilty coming inside to make dinner. I built a second roost in the coop today - hoping to reduce the pecking when the young ones are old enough to join the big girls. They had a long 4 level roost but of course there's only a one foot section that is prime real estate. I put a single level roost on the opposite wall at the same level as the prime spot...we'll see I guess. One of my hens got a beak full of chick feathers today when one if the 7wk olds escaped me. No injuries but I feel bad. Scared the poor little thing.

I have what I believe to be a pair of lavender orpingtons. They are only about 2 months now, but if you are willing to wait until they mature, you are more than welcome to some hatching eggs.Anyone out there have some blue orpingtons? I need some.
