Not sure if everyone has heard what Boyd and his family will be facing in the next couple of weeksbut here is what he posted on needing hugs and prays thread.
Ok, I finally am ready to write this all down
It is definitely Hodgkin's disease, with a huge tumor originating from her left lung, and according to ct scan the right as well. Yesterday we spent half the day there so they could do the bone marrow aspiration, and that concludes the testing. We now have a baseline to compare with once treatment starts.
The oncology nurse told us the normal protocol for this (and expects Ash to do as well) is to start chemo in a cycle
Week 1
day 1 12 hours intense chemo
day 2 3-4 hours chemo
day 3 3-4 hours chemo
Week two
Day 1 - 3-4 hours chemo
day 2 - 3-4 hours chemo
day 3 3-4 hours chemo
Week 3
Rest
Week 4 start all over again.........
So it looks like we'll be able to have her stay in school, and it would be pretty neat if we could schedule the chemo to begin on a sat-sun since she doesn't want to miss her nursing classes.
Beside our prayers I have posted the following on the thread and hope we can get some takers
Boyd and your family will be in our prayers too.
I also would like to offer any help you may need to get ready for the winter.
I talked with vicki2x2 and we could come for a day, as I'm sure there is plenty more Michigan people who could and would also to help you with anything you need done yet.
Maybe we just need to plan a chickenstock at your place in November.
What do you say!! Any takers
