Hey all! Wow... has it been a long time or what??? I got caught up with school and the fair and everything else after Chickenstock... crazy! Anyway, the main thing I want to tell ya'll about concerns the two Cochin Bantams I recieved at chickenstock.
I bought a beautiful young white boy and a charming, though skittish, 2-yr-old splash hen. I was told that the hen had never seen a roo in her life and, of course, she wanted nothing to do with the white roo and even tried to attack him through their cage divider! He didn't seem to mind, however, and was quite persistent nonetheless. Long story short, a couple of months found them living together and now I have a beautiful, very tame, inside-only, black bantam cochin chick! Unfortunately, while this egg was still in the incubator as a test, an animal killed the young roo early in the evening before he turned in for the night. I am sure that he died protecting his splash hen.
I know there is much more to tell, but this will have to suffice for now! I'm back!!!
