A corn crib is a round wire woven(sort of) building about 10-16 feet in diameter with a metal roof. Desirous for putting in Peacocks or other birds (pheasants)

A grain bin is approxomately the same with exception being solid metal sides instead of woven, so grains would stay inside of structure.

We had both on the farm.

Wouldn't a grain bin be hot?

i'm going to try this recipe for potato soup. i have a ham defrosting right now. (credit for recipe goes to about.com)

Ingredients:

* 1 large onion, diced
* 1/4 cup butter
* 3 medium leeks, white only, sliced
* 2 pounds potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
* 1/4 teaspoon dried leaf thyme, crumbled
* 6 cups chicken broth
* 1 cup heavy cream
* 1 meaty ham bone or 2 ham hocks
* salt and pepper
* croutons
* shredded cheese, optional

Preparation:
In a 3-quart saucepan, sauté onion in butter until golden in color. Add leeks, potatoes, ham bone, thyme and chicken stock; bring to a boil. Cover and simmer until potatoes are very soft. Remove ham bone and discard. Cool potato and leek mixture slightly and puree in a food processor or put through a sieve. Return to pan and add cream.
Cook an additional 2 to 3 minutes and add salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot with croutons and a sprinkling of shredded cheese, if desired.
Serves 6

Oh man....I don't know how many grain bins I shoveled out on hot days...yest they can be, however farmers don't want their crop to get too hot so there are ways to keep them cool. We had aereation ducts in ours to dry the crop and allow air flow.

There is also a roof vent.

I was a lot skinnier when I was shoveling grain out of those bins...maybe I need to get one and a shovel.

it can be. depends on the region in Belgium. super easy boiled dinner.

Hutspot varies from spinach massed potatoes to boiled dinner.

here is an authentic version (maybe Steve can get you the pigs' ears)

Never heard of a dish called Hutsapot but all the ingredents are what is usually in my boiled dinner. I did'nt add the rutabaga because I did'nt feel like dealing with its wax coating. That combo is also good for Pasties.
