MIL makes a polish dish (yep POLISH) called guampke (sp) kind of a cabbage roll with burger, rice inside cooked in a tomato sauce. Some call it pig in a blanket, but MIL insists it is not.

Good morning everyone...i'm lounging and staying under my electric blanket until i absolutely have to move. (which is in 5 minutes, then i have to wake 'the boy' up.)

okay All, i am attempting something today that i am a bit nervous about.

making bagels from scratch. maybe i am out of my mind, but maybe they'll be good.

anyone ever do this before? i figure if we don't love them, i know about 100 chickens that will eat them!

M_J, I tried to make homemade bagels once and won't do it again. THey rose all funky, real big on one side, real flat on the other...and the hole disappeared. Sigh. Then again, I'm not known for my baking ability.

Morning all, and thank you all so much for your kind words about the chicken I lost yesterday.

So...MORE good news. I did a small hatch of B/B/S Jersey Giants in December, hatched out 4 blues, and it appears ALL FOUR are cockerels! HOW in the world could that be? I was going to keep a blue cockerel, so I guess the bright side is, I'll have 4 to choose from. Sigh. But, that only leaves me with TWO pullets out of the hatch. Double sigh.

Yep...hope I can give them all away this spring! I've got (I think) 10 french copper black marans cockerels that I'll be needing to give away as well. Anyone interested in either, for free, let me know.

It's going to take me awhile to get my jersey giant pen numbers up!
