Good Morning,
This site is quite impressive! I'm a new egg and we live Michigan. We live out in the country and are the proud owners of 11 gals and a Bantam Rooster. The weather here is finally getting warmer but I must say the last couple days have been on the chilly side.....92 one day and 64 the next! That's Michigan weather for you. Anyway my little flock still enjoys milling around the yard even on the chilly days. Nicer weather in the up coming days.

Good morning everyone. As I sit here, I can her my hens crabbing out in the run. They are used to being let out at dawn, but have gotten into the bad habit of laying their eggs in a mystery spot in the yard. I can't find them. So, they are under house arrest until 11:00, when they are usually finished laying. Any suggestions on breaking this habit, besides keeping them inside? I thought about setting up an outside nest box near where they like to hang out and just go with it. They are pretty mad, especially since they saw me outside getting ready to go running, and I let the ducks out already! Besides not getting eggs, I am afraid that they will attract raccoons or opossums.

Welcome!

Good Morning! I haven't let my girls out this morning yet. I have to do some work in their run this morning. I am so sore from throwing around dirt yesterday that I am quite sluggish. I guess if I start moving it will get better. heh heh...

Good morning! What a perfect weather day. I have spent some time today reading a thread on what kind of feed people use for their chickens, and I am wondering what the Michiganders use. I have fed my chicks Dumor from the start because it was convenient- there is a TSC in both "cities" that I usually work, but I am reading that a lot of people don't like it. I will be going to a feed store this week to get DE (thanks to Opa) and I can get something different. My chicks seems very healthy, and I do also give them yogurt and an occasional egg. What's your opinion? Thanks as always for your valuable insight.

I'm not a morning person either. That's why Aric has the morning chores and I have the afternoon and evening. The 2nd coffeemaker died within 5 months so we broke out an antique percolator. It's a little faster than the last coffeemaker which took an hour and a half to brew 12 cups! lol

The weather channel desktop says it won't reach 70 but we'll have sun. Good enough fishing weather for me!

It was a little on the expensive side, $200, but I have a German made door opener that runs on 4 AA batteries that last over a year and an electric eye controls it.
