Wow it was chilly today. Just now at 7pm and the sun is finally coming out. That's ok, we had a fantastic day fishing. Although my daughter and I didn't catch anything (many near misses), they seemed to like Aric's hook better. He caught 5 carp. We brought the biggest home for the chickens

Bethany- that's really gross. Good luck. Yikes!

Today, my 5 year old tripped on our 8 week old Runner, possibly breaking it's leg (the duck). I don't know what to do... I'm simply hoping that some dark and quiet in the night pen with rally him and he'll miraculously wake up with the full use of his leg. Sigh. I see a visible break, so perhaps is dislocated, or the break is in the hip. Poor little guy. He's from a runt egg, and has a few other developmental issues. But, he's so friendly, we really like him. This is very disappointing developments. I posted in the duck section with the hopes that someone has some ideas or help. I'm considering what Opa ordered for the injured chicken on here (hanging it off the ground a bit). Thoughts?

M.sue :

Good Morning,
This site is quite impressive! I'm a new egg and we live Michigan. We live out in the country and are the proud owners of 11 gals and a Bantam Rooster. The weather here is finally getting warmer but I must say the last couple days have been on the chilly side.....92 one day and 64 the next! That's Michigan weather for you. Anyway my little flock still enjoys milling around the yard even on the chilly days. Nicer weather in the up coming days.

wow, nice day for this state huh? I worked outside ALL day making a new chicken thing, finally came in and fried up some beer-battered eggplant and summer squash, which Im setting down to and typing with greasy fingers

and having a cup of Earl Grey. Perfect day.

how do I post a pic right here in my forum when I'm typing? I'm real proud of it and want ya'll to see it. I have the scars to prove I did it ALL MYSELF. Hate working with wire of any kind, it tears me up and to top it off I got a whopper of a blood blister right on the pad of my thumb!! Wire cutters which I was using the Pliers part of and cage clamps. OWWIE.

I upload mine to photobucket.com. Once you do that, then you choose the IMG code and paste it where you type

My chickens and ducks have had much worse than that fish! They get at least one fish a week because it's high in protein. That's when their egg production usually doubles, especially the bantams!

YES it worked!! Im so cool.
I have $74.00 into it so far.
Bottom frame is 2x4 pressure treated lumber
Arch is 4 pieces of42" x 8' remesh from Home Depot at about $8 a piece.

I'm going to work on covering it with wire tomorrow. And make a hinged door.
I have to duck just the slightest to walk inside it, then I can stand full upright once in there.
Going to make a small next box, up on legs, like a hutch. And hang a feeder and waterer.

I am so proud of myself. NO help from hubby at all. He was on the lawnmower.
