I'm only pondering a flock expansion.
I have more than enough room in the coop and can move the outside run to wherever I want it to be. I do need to consider the space that the dogs need as well. But as I look at the brown mess of the backyard I think of the bigger mess it will be come spring.
I went to sleep last night thinking of Godzilla size chickens next to my banties; and Godiva coloured eggs next to the light tan eggs. Upon waking, I'm questioning some of my own motives in the chicken math equation.
Speaking of bantams and numbers...My 2 BLAs started laying on November 17th and I have received 22 eggs from them. I think that is pretty good production from them. Considering the drop in egg output many of you are experiencing, I'm darn happy to be getting eggs from all the girls. I wonder what is the major factor in egg production; light, light quality, food quality, contentment, cable in coop?
I think I'll search for the amount of day light for my lattitude and see how it correlates. I must be really, really bored!
