GOOD NEWS!!! My Dawn is still alive and is doing GREAT!

She laid an egg so she was probably eggbound. The egg is pretty big and must have been stuck where I couldn't feel it. She is standing today, running around, squaking at me, eating, drinking, and pooping just fine. My whole family thought she was going to be a goner this morning. I don't know what I would have done if she would have passed away. We want her to at least make it until next winter because she is a great broody and we want to get some professional pictures of her to hang in our living room along with her sister Midnight. They were my VERY first chickens and the most personable. Thanks again for everyone's concern.

Hope we hear good news from you, too, un-named.

Good Luck on the hatch, Taprock.

Gotta go meet another BYCer to pick up some chicks for another BYCer. I'm the man in the middle...well, woman, but stil in the middle.

Suppose to be another sunny day, so enjoy all.

So glad to hear Dawn is doing well!

Taprock....congrats on the new peep!

Another bright & gorgeous day!!

Upon having my DH scroll through the previous posts on trimming the chickens nails early this morning he says to me "Boy that Opa guys sure looks like that actor Sam Elliot" I reply "What?" He says, "Look, They look so much a like". LOL "You dumb bunny...that is a picture of Sam Elliot not Opa". He didn't have enough coffee yet I guess!!

And how can I be "chicken obsessed" when I don't have any chickens?!!!

LOL!

He's holding his own. Store opens at 10 so I can shop for him... have a list of possible things to get, will see what the store has. I hear a chirping coming from him that is a good sign. He also hisses at me all the time which is a good sign too.

Sorry to hear about the sick birds but happy to hear of the recoveries. Worrying about a sick animal can be pretty bad.

Then there is the shock of finding a healthy bird dead in the coop. That's what I discovered this morning when I went out. My BO Extra Crispy was dead on the floor with no apparent sign of injury. She died sometime during the night for reasons unknown. She was fine yesterday and last night. She had also been very good at laying those big eggs of 70 grams or bigger.

The other birds are fine from all appearances. They got some leftover macaroni as a treat. Even the 2 Ugo's are getting better about coming when called. Of course a handful of mealworms helps with that training.

Well I better get busy cleaning up the rest of the house for the SuperBowl party.
