Just on the news, Fenton counsil considering changing the ordinance to allow backyard chickens!

They were filming a backyard flock and a rooster was mating with a hen. I can just hear it .... Mommy, why is that chicken beating up that chicken??? But, great news for Fenton!

I have Chinese geese before and love them, and ordered more to replace my flocK that I had culled to MG.

I had 4 of them- 1 male and 3 females.


The ducks I use to have-

No, I wasn't the one with the vent gleet. Never heard of it until today. I have to go to the store, so I think I will get buttermilk for her. I just tried to get her in to see Dr. Bader in the morning, but he is off until next week. Lets hope that I can keep her from getting worse. Her crop doesnt seem to be getting worse at all, and she is eating. She is however bunched up a bit... She has not laid an egg today. In fact, I only got one egg today from the 5 of them.... Lazy girls. LOL. Heck I was surprised that I got an egg 5 days in a row from my Fiametta. Pretty good for a newly laying pullet. But, she might be in the nest box yet. She is a late layer... Just like Buffy was.

I let the little chuckles out on the ground today. I had 2 escape artists that wanted to go and check out the other hens. Only one hen did some pecking. Vanna turned around and there was one of the little blackish pullets, and Vanna jumped, then pecked at her. LOL. I was able to snatch her back up after that and put her back in the little pen I made. Only 4 of the 12 would not come out of the coop. LOL. Silly little chuckles.

Skeeter decided that I did not need to check out her babies today and was very clear on it today. LOL. I can not believe how stinky Leila is... WOW. By that I mean, I have straw in her coop. I put the straw in instead of the pine shavings, thinking it would be easier for the little chicks... I do not like it. The poo just stays on top and gets all mashed up in Leila's feathers. Man... I am going to get a bag of the pine flakes... Not the fine.

Ok... SO, who has Nick Jr? Any one remember Franklin? Well, I guess the powers that be have decided that it needed an update. Its now computer/cgi animated. I wonder if they will do the same to Little Bear... I am gonna protest if they do. I am weird. Hey, I have a preschooler... what can you expect? Not much I say. LOL

...but how do you answer multiple people then, especially if you are a newbie and don't have everybody straight to post to in one post....
or have a bad memory and cannot remember what you wanted to say after reading 40 posts...that you need to hit multiquote to remember......
is it preferred I answer with the quote button, one at a time?

I joined the "egg in the pocket got broken" club today. The hens went 4 for 4 today and I wasted one.

It looks like it is going to be one of those weeks.

or have a bad memory and cannot remember what you wanted to say after reading 40 posts...that you need to hit multiquote to remember......
is it preferred I answer with the quote button, one at a time?

You can open a reply box on another tab in your browser and type responses along with the name of the poster as you go along. I used to do that quite often on the old format, but it would work here, too. Personally, large font, bright colors and all caps bother me, but I don't see anyone stopping that anytime soon. Go forth and multi-quote if you so wish, I say!

ETA: And they shouldn't change it just for me. Post as you wish. Someone can always skip the post if they don't like the format. I do it all the time. I also routinely skip posts by people that have been consistently combative. Life is short; live and let live.

I vaguely remember that one. Sounds kind of like what they did with the Garfield cartoons. It makes everything look so weird. I guess I'm just an old schooler.

I agree. What I do to cut down the amount of scrolling associated with multi-quoting is delete the parts of the post not relevant to what I wish to respond to. Notice how I cut down Nova's post to just the one at the end.


Well, I'm excited. For the past two days now I have been getting 15 eggs a day which means more than half of my hens are laying again. Yay! Now just to figure out what to do with the 6+ dozen sitting in the fridge....
