our cat, Crystal drools like no one's business. and she does 'push-push' all the time.

here is my hurricane gear. i was sporting it on Sunday while it was raining like mad. (anyone calls me the Gorton's Fisherman and they get a fat lip!!!)

a very angry guinea cock did NOT find this outfit funny AT all he fluffed up and sprang right at my face when i let them out. i got in the run and scooped him up for hugs. he really loved it. ha ha ha. haaaa. haaaa. look at the love!

that is my husband's grandpa's rain gear. he's been gone about 15 years now. he was really short and little. i cannot imagine him swimming in it! glad he had it though.

the best part...when i went in to get the guinea...i snatched his little hind end up and crawled out. just about to get out when...wait for it...i fell over onto my knees in the mud. i get stable and then, yep, you guessed it. back onto my butt and back in the mud with a guinea cockerel in my hands and two pullets running all over beserko in the pen.

Rick was laughing so hard i thought he was going to choke and i am just trying not to let go of that guinea fowl, thinking, "Oh, Lord, please don't let this guinea tear my eyeballs out!"

Hey Gang - My broodies - whose babes are 3 wks old are either pulling out or losing their feathers....I'd say this has been happening over the last week - MJ, Trudy has taken to being a MOM after all! Anyway, the Mom's especially Trudy, the brahma doesn't look too healthy these days - her waddles and comb are really pale - I've started letting them out to free range this week for a few hours here and there....and they're eating the chick feed which I read was fine for them - I just made some scrambled eggs for them for breakfast - any other suggestions gals? Thanks!
BTW, we're taking Sarah's hen/rooster! Couldn't be more convenient - She's coming to MSU for a dog show and staying about 6 miles from our home!

HH...sassy!

hustonn....my broodies (i've only had the two) pulled feathers before hatching, not after. and have not had this. i am wondering if they are protein deficient. the scrambled eggs are a good start.

i am wondering if maybe some tuna fish might be food for some protein and iron?

any other ideas?

We have had some good news. My husband is no longer slated to be laid off! Thank you all who prayed!

Glad to read that Cat's husband isn't going to be laid off. These are definately tought time to be looking for work. I guess I'd better log off for the night and go find something to eat. I have a strange desire for fish sticks.

We know many people who have lost everything, it is so depressing. The company my husband used to work for is now in the same boat as GM, run by the bank. Basically due to GM not paying them. They took down all the GM plants in MI and last I heard GM owed the 19 million dollars and counting and filed bankruptcy, so now that company, who was a multimillion dollar company in their own right, is now also struggling and basically owned by the bank.

We will pray for all those at the steel mill, and the rest of the people out there trying to find jobs or hold on to one. The say the economy is turning around but I sure don't see it here in MI.
