Oh BBCS, I'm so sorry to hear that. When a herd of chicks get excited, you can count on a stampede and someone's gonna get hurt!

I am originally from Kalkaska, up near Traverse City. We lived in the snow belt and would get tons of snow, often more than the U.P. I moved here in June of 1996! I remember standing outside waiting for the bus and the your nose hairs would all freeze! Didn't think kids really had nose hair but evidently they do. That is what I felt like this morning!

My girls all got hot mash for breakfast, my bunnies all got warm water and I had to bring one in, she had ice balls hanging off her nose from condensation and she has to use a water bottle due to long ears (english lop) because if her ears get wet in the bowl they will freeze to the cage. So she couldn't breathe well enough to drink out of her water bottle this morning. So in she came. Everyone else seemed dandy, my one goat was funny, her mouth was covered in frost, and she looked at me with her lip up showing her teeth like she was saying "WOW, it is really cold out here!"

Just saw your post, Miss_Jayne; sorry to hear about your little EEs. Yep, breaks your heart when you lose them; especially, a tiny one. The two-headed embryo was interesting. Glad you took a pic to share. And glad it didn't make it to hatch!

Burrrr I am frozen Thursday is my day on the main wildlife rehab site was out doing all the cleaning the bonces is today there where 3 of us still took until almost noon to get everything done we where so good even the swans and geese where just hiding under the heat lamps. The ducks that fly in everyday from the park did not even come it must have been cold to fly.

LJ I an sorry about your chicks.

Made my second trip to the barn.

Pigs are so deep into that straw you can barely see em.

It has been a while since I have gotten a egg from my EE's, they finally blessed me with a bluish/green one.....bout time.

Dogs I think are oblivious to the cold....frolicking, rolling and playing in the snow like it is summertime.

Still no Opa.

I hate to sound like a broken record.......but BRRRRR!
Going out to check on the critters again and get those eggs before they freeze. Hopefully I get a few more today. Yesterday I only got one. We usually get 3 to 6 a day. Oh well, at least they are all taking the cold ok. I guess I should just count my blessings there.
vicki2x2-We had that happen to one of our bunnies in the last blizzard, poor things ears had ice balls on them. We got him all warmed up and he was happy as can be!

It is defenately cold out!

I am still sick, I am tired of coughing!

In the paper today was a 50 year old man who fell off his deck yesterday and froze to death. So sad.

Sorry to hear about your chicks miss jayne.

How much longer til spring? Just over 3 weeks til I go to Honduras, I cannot wait for the warm weather!
