Chocolate Cake- a newspaper clipping in Great Grandma's recipe box

1 1/2 cup sifted flour
3T. cocoa
1t. soda
1 cup sugar
1/2t. salt
5T. cooking oil
1 T. vinegar
1t. vanilla
1 cup cold water

Put sifted flour back in the sifter and add to it the cocoa, soda, sugar, and salt and sift in a bowl. Now make 3 holes in the dry mixture. Into one hole pour the oil, another the vanilla, and the last hole the vinegar. Pour the cold water over it all.

It will feel like you are making mud pies but beat with a spoon until smooth and you cannot see the flour.
Put in a greased 8x8 pan.
Bake at 350* for 30 minutes.

Top with favorite frosting.

I use a peanut butter frosting...some peanut butter, butter, vanilla, powdered sugar and milk. Don't know amounts...I dump and go!

Enjoy!
Sarah

Forgot to put the size pan!

Sarah,
the flour...i am assuming All-Purpose or do you use Bread or Cake Flour???

this looks like a stellar recipe!

thank you, dear! it just looks yummy!

i do stuff like that all the time, not adding the time to cook or the temps, because i know how i make it.

Hi everyone!
Thanks for the prayers, I am sure it is nothin'

MJ those look yummy! I love to make those cupcake cones, but it seems the little ones only lick all the frosting off of them and leave the cake and cone...silly kids. At least they know what the best part is...I love frosting!

I not only finished cleaning the coops, but I got to paint DD's room! The colors are very bold! She loves it. I will have to put a second coat on tomorrow, but it will be fun to have it done.

I will have to try those cake recipes, but with all this baking, I am going to need to get movin' or I am going to turn into a cupcake, or at least have muffin top!

I am off to bed! Good night all!

Is it almost 11am yet?? I don't know if I can wait that long. I might be skipping breakfast in the morning......

We're all excited to come out tomorrow, I think myself, more than the kids:)

Tick tock tick tock

Hi All,
Hope the thyroid will be alright DCM. I will be praying for you. Been trying to catch up on all the emails. Kinda hard with four cats all wanting to sit on my lap!!! They all think they need loving when I sit at the computer.
Got our two youngest grandsons with us for the weekend. They want Gramma to cut their hair and they love going out and checking on the chickens.
Just found out that their Dad, our youngest son at 31 just hit a deer and messed up his van.
Our other son, Kevin just got a call and his daughter is in labor. So he has made a run to the hospital. No new yet.
That food and ice cream looks so good!!! My hubby likes home made ice cream. I used to make it for him. He , being a truck driver at one time, used to being up all night, would want it made at weird hours. So I showed him how to make it himself. Now whenever he runs out and is hungry for it, just whips it up.
That should be a really nice coop when you get it all built. Got to go shut up my chickens for the night.
Come on Spring!!!! Come on Sunshine!!!!! Myrna
