Good Afternoon!

I am procrastinating on picking strawberries. I should of done it earlier:)

Welcome new folks! Check out the August 1st get together in Lansing, we'd love to meet ya!

One of Rachel's pullets died yesterday. She did chores and it wasn't feeling well, Rachel said. She went out to check on her in her seperate cage and she was dead. Not sure why, I thought of autospying her, but not sure what I would be looking for!

Off to pick, I have enough to make some jam this afternoon already. I had to buy store bought jam and it just isn't the same!!!

Thanks for all the tips. Got things freezing in the freezer right now.
MJ the chickens and the smaller turkey fit under the coop for the best shade, but the one turkey is getting to big and is the only one panting so far. I swear he is part pig, he plants himself in front of the feeder all day if you let him. I usually have to shoo him out of the coop.

A2SciTeach- I know exactly where Scarlett school is my brother went to Scarlett (I think 1992-1995) I was supposed to but then we moved and I went to Clauge. I'm glad to see how much chicken keeping is booming in A2.

wyliefarms- I'll help you pick strawberries, but I always seem to get more in my mouth then in m basket.

On hot afternoon I've caught the chickens sticking there whole head into the little duck pond while getting a drink. I also like to put icecubes in the water.

just had a great visit with zephyrcreek and her two boys. they were the best two taste testers EVER! they should have regular jobs for Keebler or Nabisco!

thank you Ellen for such a nice time and for the gobblers!

I think a book is a great idea. I don't think I have read Chicken Soup for the Chicken Lovers Soul yet. Sounds like a winner to me. I would buy it!!

hi everyone,
it has been a very long weekend for me, was camping with my sons cub scout group at Sleepy hollow park. We camped next to our friends camp gorund and the adults were out numbered 2 to 1
(3 adults and 6 kids - all under the age of 7 - 7, 7, 6, 5, 4, and almost 3) so we were running all over the place all weekend. the 4 year old got lost friday night coming out of the bathroom b/c other kids ran off before she got done, had a couple of biking accidents (man a box of bandaids goes fast at a camp site...lol) 2 kids from teh campground started a fight with 2 of ours right infront of our campsite b/c the boys were playing tag and brushed up against one of the boys, and whatever else happened that I do not know about on top of that the boys could earn several things so keeping them on top of the time, they earned a whittling chip, astronomy belt loop, swimming belt loop, birds of prey patch, and a camping patch
it has just been a hectic weekend, maybe that is why the drinks were flowing after the kids were in bed..... LOL

all of that happening it was like we did not have time to enjoy camping so we stayed an extra night, and that was a great night until about 1 am when the coons started to attack, it was like we were under seige and surrounded. they were under the camper trying to get to the garbage, then we heard them under a picnic table picking up scraps, tried to drag off whatever they could carry, we knew it was time to go to bed when we flashed a light the right and one was about 4 feet away. I told my friend that they had a buffet to eat all weekend and with only a few campsites occupied on sunday night they were out to find anything they could
but we survived and made it home all in one piece
thank god
