Hi Lorie Ann here, I have been involved with chickens for 12 years. we started off with cochins, we have had game cocks, over the years currently we have none and wanted to start up again. its been 5 month now of no birds and its really hard looking at our empty coops fromt he windows. I had an accident and have been going through therapy. we had people taking care of them and they did not close them up while i was not able to go outside. and laid up. next morning when they went to feed and water all the birds were gone. so we decided we sould wait untill i could care for them myself. so here I am ready and able to . Not that I am at 1000% but ablt to care for my feathered friends. I really miss my morning wake up. Sometimes I still think I hear them. . If anyone knows where I can get some in Michigan please let me know. I am in Oxford.

Good morning all. Sure looks like we a couple of good days in store for us. A lot of my garden plants have really taken off now that it has started getting warmer. The last several years two zuchinni plants have provided all the zuchinni we could use so this year I planted two again. I also planted six small plants that the tag said were bush type cucumbers. I friend planted some last year and I was very impressed with them. Yesterday, while inspecting the garden, I discovered that they look identical to my zuchinni plants. I'm afraid someone mislabeled them so we will now have tons of zuchinni for the chickens.

Good Morning All!!! I'm BACK!

For those of you who missed my departure, I left early Friday for Valparaiso, IN for two days of a four-day dog show. My little bloodhound girl took second in her 9-12month class on Saturday and won 1st under a different judge yesterday. Because she won, she got to compete for WB (Winners B(female) ), and she won!!! Then she competed against the boys for Best of Breed, but instead took Best of Opposite Sex (the winner was a male). All in all, a good turnout. Especially for a nine month old pup. And she won 2 points towards her championship.

I came home to find that my 10 cornish crosses had been over-cared for during the weekend. They are huge!!! And boy are they messy! I had to clean the brooder thoroughly last night and I may have to replace some wood chips again today. All 10 are very healthy and still have had no pasty butts. How long before I can stop checking for pasty butt syndrome?

Glad to be back home!

Good morning everyone!

Opa, the hubby and I went up north camping last week and took a canoe down the Rifle River.

We took the little tv and the dvd player to set up in our tent. We stopped at a video store and bought 2 dvd's so we could have something to watch.

The hubby forgot to grab the remote so I couldn't push select to start either one of the movies.

Our son left a dvd in the player so I tried that one. You'll never guess what it was! Tombstone! The movie started and I saw Sam and instantly thought of you! How funny is that? Shhhh...don't tell hubby I was thinking of you! LOL

For those of you looking for DE (diatomaceous earth) I just made a trip to Livingston Feed and Seed in Howell to specifically check and while they are out of prepackaged DE they have more on order. However, they carry it in bulk and you can buy as many pounds as you'd like.

That's what it is, a humidifier...I thought there was a ziplock bag over my house. I'm headed for the lake now. Chores are done and I voted sandwitches and jello for dinner when we get home.
