YakLady: YOU can go with us next year if you wish. And would love to have you along with us. The more, the marrier for sure. It was fun, but...prepare, its not for country folk in the least. Not us anyway. So darn crowded. Was so awesome to see all the birds, but myself..Id rather go to a small show (that promoted SOME, large fowl instead of all bantums) than such a huge show that one cannot cover all of it, cuz of over crowding. But I understand they need that to proceed with the next one.
If we go next year , we will have birds to show...babies/grandkids in hand and stay the weekend. But wont be in the show hall that much.
Sorry to babble and vent...but I was sickened, a polish roo that was in the 4th row of the sale caged birds, with 5-6 other birds, in this tiny ..one stall cage. 2 being other breed roo's. Well his head was almost all eaten/picked by the other roo to the point he was huddled down on the bottom of this "SALE" cage and just taking it, as this roo pecked and pecked at his head. I called the phone number on the sale card and said this..."have you been over to your sale cage? NO. well your one red roo is eating/pecking half the head off your black polish and you need to seperate them" he says..I'll be there in a bit to seperate them". GRRRRRRRRRRRR I wont go into detail, but I doubt that Polish Roo will make it. It was horrible. Then to think HOW many people and children walked by that cage, seeing what was going on. Please someone tell me, how does that happen without notice with 2,000 people and a ton show members walking around?
Time for bed..... sorry
EDIT TO SAY: I will probably get band from here or flamed for crab'n about a "bird" ...but hey, Im not here to worry about what others think. And these birds to me, are family/companions in my eyes. They are not a $3 replaceable commodity. Sad to find out, it was someone from Plainwell Michigan.
