Good morning all. I would imagine our ladies are headed to Columbus by now. They have a great day for traveling and it should be a great time. Hopefully next year with the gun deer season opening on Monday the Ohio show can be on my agenda. I'm sure it is really something to see.

Good Morning!

The dog enjoyed his morning walk.... he got to chase some deer

During the week it is still dark out when he gets taken out, so this was a bonus!

I am going to the Focus on the Family Parenting Simulacast today. I am very excited as I have never attended anything like this before. After that is done, I get to come home, get dressed up (which I never do!) and MC my daughter's piano recital.
Opa- I will wave as I pass your house

Have a great day everyone! The sun rise was beautiful!!!!

Sarah

Good luck to all the deer hunters tomorrow morning

This weather is fantastic. I love hanging clothes out in the November sunshine. My cochin roo is very busy - should have some BBS cochin chicks in the spring - we're just going to eat the eggs for now - I don't have an incubator and am not wanting to have baby chicks in the winter. According to the Farmer's Almanac, winter is supposed to be bitter cold and dry, with less snow than last year.

I'm going out to dig some turnips for dinner...

We are on our way home from Ohio writing to you all from the car

Our flight to Ohio was long! It took us 5 hours because Oopsy had to take us an hour out of the way for 20 of Rex Nelison's cochins. I did not buy much just a cyauga drake and a Millie roo, Some nice birds there but so many people, it was hard to look at everything.

Opa, Oopsy said she forgot your cell number yesterday.

If you love the little banty chickens, that show is for you.

talk to everyone soon
Jamie & Carol.

CCF, you didn't mention if you had a good time at the show or not. I imagine not since all of us weren't there with you.

Tell Oopsie that hopefully we can make it another time.
Got the pruning done finally and the xmas lights up, my gear is all in the truck for hunting tomorrow and I'm beat. Time for coffee and a comfortable chair.

We made it home safe n sound. Yeah LONG drive. And for 2 country girls, it was a bit different seeing like 2,000 people in one building. So crowded you couldnt move without someone touching you. Im not use to that in the least. Rows between the sales cages was max, 3' wide. A one track and two lanes coming and going. Also so it seems, the sales cages they use for many different birds. You'd go by and say there were RIR's in it and 1/2 hour later ,they're gone and some other breed is there. VERY confusing. I did decide my last breed Im going to aquire are Shamo Game Birds. Gosh they remind me of the lizards on Jurassic Park movie, those little creatures that their necks get huge and they can eat a human. LOL Very large birds. They are right up there with the LF Light Brahmas and LF Cochins to me. But only a face a mother could love.

Opa: I am so very sorry about yesterday. I walked out of the house at 10am, without Steve's or your phone numbers. Thank gosh I had directions to his place. As he was holding some Silver Lakenvelders I told him I would buy. So I called Ted and he called him for me to tell him I would be 1/2 hour later than I had promised. Darn city traffic grrrrrrrrr.

Wish you all could have joined us..especially on the way home. CCF and I laughed so hard watching videos on YouTube she left here with a big headache from laughing so hard. NOTE TO SELF: dont laugh until you cry driving in traffic on the interstate. It can cause a serious accident. LOL

Oopsy and CCF, I am so jealous!! Hopefully next year I can go. That's so cool that you two had some time together like that, though. CCF, you said you bought a Cayuga drake? I am LOVIN' my Cayuga's that I got from Steve. Hubby and I let them out of the chicken/sheep/duck yard today for the first time. We walked them down through the yak pasture, and down a hill to the creek. They were so adorable!!! They were so excited to see a creek. They ran as soon as they saw it, and played in there together for hours. At dusk, hubby and I went down to shoo them out of the creek, and we walked them back up the hill and through the yak pasture, back into the chicken/sheep/duck yard. I was so impressed and so relieved at how easy it is to 'herd' them from place to place. Since it's that easy, I can see giving them playtime in the creek every day.

Opa: Good luck with the huntin'! I've been trying to encourage my hubby to take up huntin', because I loooooove me some venison! He hunted when he was a kid, but his ex-wife discouraged all things manly, and wouldn't stand for it. Sorry, but I want my man to work, sweat, and put some meat on the table. He's all for it, but we haven't seen any deer at all on our property.

Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday, all.

YakLady: YOU can go with us next year if you wish. And would love to have you along with us. The more, the marrier for sure. It was fun, but...prepare, its not for country folk in the least. Not us anyway. So darn crowded. Was so awesome to see all the birds, but myself..Id rather go to a small show (that promoted SOME, large fowl instead of all bantums) than such a huge show that one cannot cover all of it, cuz of over crowding. But I understand they need that to proceed with the next one.

If we go next year , we will have birds to show...babies/grandkids in hand and stay the weekend. But wont be in the show hall that much.

Sorry to babble and vent...but I was sickened, a polish roo that was in the 4th row of the sale caged birds, with 5-6 other birds, in this tiny ..one stall cage. 2 being other breed roo's. Well his head was almost all eaten/picked by the other roo to the point he was huddled down on the bottom of this "SALE" cage and just taking it, as this roo pecked and pecked at his head. I called the phone number on the sale card and said this..."have you been over to your sale cage? NO. well your one red roo is eating/pecking half the head off your black polish and you need to seperate them" he says..I'll be there in a bit to seperate them". GRRRRRRRRRRRR I wont go into detail, but I doubt that Polish Roo will make it. It was horrible. Then to think HOW many people and children walked by that cage, seeing what was going on. Please someone tell me, how does that happen without notice with 2,000 people and a ton show members walking around?

Time for bed..... sorry

EDIT TO SAY: I will probably get band from here or flamed for crab'n about a "bird" ...but hey, Im not here to worry about what others think. And these birds to me, are family/companions in my eyes. They are not a $3 replaceable commodity. Sad to find out, it was someone from Plainwell Michigan.

Good morning all!
Good luck to all the hunters out there. Just got my boys out, now I get to worry and wonder for the next few hours. I always hate opening morning, especially on the weekend.
Oopsy, sorry to here about your bad experience at the show. I agree with you totally and probably would have made the same call.
