Good morning everyone!
What a beautiful week we have had, not bad for November. My nursery coop is almost completely finished. I have a few touch ups to do before I post pictures. I need 4 shutters for my 2 med size windows. I would really like to find some custom wood ones with something carved into them. My aunt has a 100 year old home and her shutters have a cut out of a moon and stars on them. They look so cool.
Sure, I could buy some cheep plastic ones form the hardware but I think some old wood ones would suit my fancy much better. I wish I could find someone to make some and cut a chicken into them. I will have to nose around online and see what I can find.
I got my breeding pens set up last week as well. I bought a beautiful Millie roo at the show Sat. I put him with 3 hens and now just waiting for some eggs :0)
My beautiful black frizzle cochin roo and his 2 ladies have been giving me an egg a day. I have them in the bator and hope they grow. The hens are young so I figure I will hatch a couple batches of eggs before I offer hatching eggs for sale out of this trio.
I also setup a trio of sq silver lakenvelders
One frizzle sq polish hen and a flat feather roo
A pair that I believe to be molted lemon blue cochin bantam (need help on the color with this pair see photo and let me know what you think)
Any guess on color?
A pair of sq black silkies that I just adore. They are both so sweet. Silkies are much more lovable then other chickens their clam ways make them nice pets.
I also have a beautiful pair of sq partridge showgirls. They have given me 5 eggs that are due to hatch on Thanksgiving. I took a peak last night and all are developing well. I am so excited to hatch the showgirls, they are such cool looking birds!
Needless to say turkey day will also be hatching day at my house!!! My kids are so excited!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day
