HBH - Congrats on finding that friend, or being found, I suppose. That's really neat.
Two sick kids and a husband who is working late are making for a very quiet house here tonight. I think I'm going to turn on some of my favorite music and try a new recipe for a late dinner. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be ready just as the husband gets home.
I let one of the Narragansett hens out to free range today while the other hen and the tom remained locked up. Of course, while she was free to, she didn't range far from the coop and temporary run without her friends which is exactly what I'd hoped for. I'll continue to let one hen out during the day (trying to alternate which one) for the next week or two before letting two out at once and then finally moving on to all three. I also tested their eggs today and we have fertility -- well, the larger of the two hens has fertility, but that's a start. She also laid it in the nest box for once. I'll start leaving the eggs out there now and hopefully we'll have a broody turkey soon.
