Just got back from an afternoon at the Detroit Zoo. My cousin was meeting us up there as part of his kids birthday party. mOst weren't going to the zoo, just the party back at the house. So we get to the zoo and I call his cell phone- they are just leaving the zoo. I was a little mad. We just spent $51 to enter the zoo and they aren't even there! I would rather go to Binder Park Zoo or Toledo Zoo. If I would of known I would of done things differently. So we leave the zoo at 5pm, the same time the party is starting at my cousins house. I figured I would get a call seeing how we were coming and such, but nope. We didn't go to the party, I am still upset. So we had to go out to dinner, since I didn't have anything made and I had hungry kids. We went to Denny's and had some good food- but slow service. Spent $100 today, that I really didn't need to in the first place.

Mom2emAll, you certainly proved the old adage that nothing is ever truly free. Sorry you had such a tough day.

The brother of the young guy who works for me lost his entire flock to the neighbors dogs, so if anyone has any layers or POL pullets please contact me.

I'm still concerned about Granny's dog but it does seem better tonight. Hopefully the antibiotics will straighten her out. Yesterday was a particularily tough day for Granny. Her dog's fate was very much in doubt and it was the anniversary of my Dads death.

Chicks are still hatching and more have pipped so hopefully by this time tomorrow I have a decent hatch.

Oh my. It sounds like everyone has had a rough day. It was a fun day here. One of my few weekends off work. The kids and I hung out all day, and even played baseball for awhile. I am very happy to announce that we have 14 cute little muscovy ducklings curled up with momma duck in the brooder right now. The good little momma tore my hand up as I was removing each of those cuties to count them. It looks like we will have quite a few different colors. There are still 3 more eggs that she is sitting on. I'll check those in a few days to see if anything is happening. I also took 9 eggs out of the nest of my fourth hen and placed them under the broody EE hen. She seems to be sticking with it, but I'll keep a close eye on her. That silly chocolate hen is the only one that is still laying eggs all over the coop. Ugh! Sure wish she would start to lay in her own nest.

Opa, please give Granny an extra hug from me, sounds like it has been a little rough the past couple of days.

We had 29 out of the 35 eggs hatch at my daughters school! I've had such a great time doing this with them. It was so amazing watching the kids watch the chicks hatch. My daughter is already telling everyone that we are keeping all of them but not the roosters, those we eat! The look on their faces then was priceless!

Good morning all. The coffee's on and it's time to think about starting your day. I still have chicks hatching and I'm not sure just how many have managed to break out of their shells. It looks like I've got close to twenty so far.

Good Morning! Had very busy week end....but then again the last four have been hectic and it doesn't look like it's gonna slow down any time soon. Next week end I'll be sitting for four of my grand kids and then the following two of them. And.... I'm gonna be a grandma to another lil baby!! How cool is that???

Sam, I hope Granny's dog is doing better. Know how hard it is when a loved pet dies.
