Hey guys! Is there anyone in the Lansing/Williamston area that're looking to downsize their flock? I'm looking for colored layers under 2-years-old. I'm not looking to spend a fortune but I'd be willing to pay a few dollars. My ladies are getting a bit old and my pullets won't be laying for awhile.

Thanks!

Wow, still getting the hang of this thing! Thanks for the warm welcomes, this is great!!

So far we have three 1.5 month old Call ducks, six 3 month old Belgian Quail hens and a one rooster, then the lady who we bought the Quails from gave us a rooster and hen of another type that I don't remember what they are, but they are supposedly one of the smallest chickens out there. We also have four 3 month old Silkies, three 7 month old Plymouth Rocks and the guy we bought that from gave us a 2 month old RIR. This of course is not counting two 3 year old Toy Poodles and a 7 year old German Shephard mix.
Vicki, I just noticed your msg! The Serama hen laid an egg the minute we put her in the pen, but hasn't since. They are all doing great. Well, except for one of the Belgians. She has taken to terrorizing the RIR. Every day, all day! The RIR has started fighting back with the others and now the Belgian is the only one that picks on her. It's the one with the missing tail feathers. The Belgian rooster is a little &*$^%. He will CLIMB the fence to get out. He was missing for an hour the other night! The other rooster (nicknamed Pretty Boy...and he knows it!) is so much fun. He LOVES the RIR. His crowing is nice because it's not loud. The neighbor even says he likes it. What's so funny is the neighbor is really good at crowing and talking like a chicken so he and Pretty Boy go back and forth. We also laugh because me, Aric and my daughter all have allergies now. The one sure way to get Pretty Boy to crow...sneeze!! LOL
Congratulations Keyt, that was her first egg! How cool is that! They hadn't started laying yet, but I knew it would be soon! Glad they are settling in. Yeah, Belgians roo's can be stinkers, but Serama roosters are sweethearts!!

I love Pretty Boy. He's definitely my fave! He also rounds everyone else up at night when it's time to roost. Most of the time he'll let me pick him up. He LOVES to have his neck rubbed too. I wish the female would lay again, but I know it's still early. We've added quite a bit in a week and again tomorrow then I think we're done! It'll be funny when my Call ducks get a little bigger and I can put them in there. They will probably be bigger than the Seramas lol. This has been so much fun having chickens again.

Hey, by the way if you have anything else you want to let go of let me know! If anyone here knows of a young Cayuga that's my dream duck! I tried ordering them online but the minimum is 15. I certainly don't want that many!! lol

Good Morning all!

Last night was the dance workshop for the Annie auditions. There were over 100 kids K-8th grade there

Then about 30-40 high schoolers and adults. I participated in the dance workshop, it was hard to try and learn a 2 minute dance in 1 hour. It was also a lot of fun!

Tonight the K-8th graders audition

Emily and Gretchen are excited! Tomorrow is the high school and adults. I just may try out for the fun of it too.

They are casting about 70- 75 total for the production.

Have a great day!

Wow, so after posting here 4 or 5 times, I have discovered I need to keep better track of what I have and how old they are. I used to rescue, breed and raise reptiles and I had a LOT more of those than I do chickens and knew every single one of their ages, etc. I must be getting old or something because my memory fails me now lol.

I think Mr. Rooster (aka Pretty Boy) has decided he really likes his voice! Now if only I could get the 3 Plymouth Rock ladies to like laying as much as Pretty Boy likes crowing we'd be all set! lol

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!!

No one told me ducks grow up so fast! This was just 16 days ago!

If you soak the seeds overnight in water before you plant it will accelerate their growth. If you get them planted now the should make it before the first killing frost. Now would also be a good time to plant rutabaga and lettuce.
