Holy Cow!!

I was just out collecting eggs and I hear all this squealing outside of the coop (definitely not coming from a chicken!) so I stepped out to see what all the commotion was and those darn girls had caught a mouse! I couldn't believe it!! They were going crazy fighting for it, riping it out of each other's beak!

Hello all- been in the background for a bit. Nothing going on but snow snow and more snow and hauling water. I have inquired about ordering some hatching eggs for the end of February. I figure thats a good time to push Spring...

Im tired of winter.

I hope everyone is doing well.
I have been listening to my hen crow all morning, starting at 3:30. Im going to hate to rehome her- I helped her come so far from naked chicken to these great black feathers and beard, but I cant have her cost me everything I have back there. My illegal fowl. I dont know how to break her of this stupid errrt errrt errrrrr. Not as loud as a rooster but definitely audible for my next door neighbor once windows are open. (this is NOT the egg song, This is from her roost first thing in the 'morning' (3:30 A.M is NOT morning).

Im ready for Chicken Stock! Cant we have an early pre- chicken stock? The end of June is SO far away.

I was sitting here thinking of all these snow mountains in my neighborhood. Once it melts, we are going to have such a flood. My ducks are going to love it. You know that soupy, muddy, gross stage of spring?

nope my next door neighbor is the reason that years ago I had to give away my four hens. Problem here is that SHE is not a rooster. She lays eggs. She is gender-confused. I sure would hate to have to get rid of my ducks and chickens because the HEN wouldnt stop crowing.
