Oh my goodness! HH! He is gorgeous! I've promised both myself and my vacuum that our next dog(s) WILL be low shedding however. I am SO done with my house, clothes, car, etc being covered in dog hair no matter what I do.

I agree. While the husky is a beautiful dog, they shed... ALOT! Got a Keeshound has alot of hair, but as long as we take him to get groomed, it's not so bad. It's just too much work trying to keep up with all that hair!

Here's an interesting discovery I made today. I have a digital thermometer and hygrometer in the new incubator I built. As a back up I have glass bulb thermometer already in it and today I wanted to add a backup hygrometer. I had the incubator open for less then one minute and get it registered a 5 degree drop in temperature and a 10% drop in humidity. I knew there would be a drop yet I was surprized at how much it actually was. I'm sure this is why the experts make such an issue of not opening the incubator before the hatch is complete.

I wish creeping phlox bloomed all summer....it looks so pretty!

I posted before about my strangely bald silkies.
Broody seems to be growing her feathers back, but the other black silkie still has a partially bald head, half her neck, her entire belly and butt is smooth. Shmoo has a bald butt as well, but might be growing her feathers back. They all dust themselves, I checked for bugs and they look clean, they aren't acting oddly, all are eating and drinking alright and there aren't a lot of feathers around in the coop.
Is this just a molt? Could there be a picking problem? Could the roost be the cause of their featherless-ness? Is there such a thing as chicken pattern balding?
I am a bit concerned that their feathers have been gone for so long. It's been a couple months now.

Am I worrying over nothing?

FLL, I clicked on your picture and the flowers are just beautiful. The grass somehow got a real good jump on us this year so ours is pretty shabby compared to yours and it is a shame that phlox doesn't bloom all summer. I have the same gripe about sedum. I glad a little of the pressure of worrying about your husband has lessened.

Ferrett, never having raised any of those living dust mops I can't speak from experience; but given that you have checked them thoroughly for lice and mites, and that your birds are healthy I would suspect that your silkies are shedding, I mean molting.
