I SO wanted to go this year. We've had it on the calendar since it was announced. Unfortunately I'm in a battle with SSI because they took a lot of my money for something I paid for last year. I hate SSI

but I don't have a choice.

I LOVE Ludington!! I used to fish on a team there from 1997-2005. I haven't been there since and miss it a lot. Fishing here is nice and serves our purposes, but nothing like fishing there!

Speaking of fishing, Sunday while fishing in a local park, we noticed a park ranger and a sheriff going back and forth on the part of the river we were on. They were obviously looking for something...or what turned out to be someone. Last night on the news they reported finding a body right where we were of a man that drowned on Friday.

So sad! Sad and yet kinda creepy knowing we were right there. We overheard some kids talking about someone who drowned at the park down the road from where we were. The bike paths and river tie the parks together. Aric said maybe that's what the ranger and cop were looking for, but I said it was free fishing weekend so maybe they were just keeping an eye on things. Turned out there were 3 local drownings in the last week. All the storms created a lot of damage and flood so the rivers are very dangerous right now, but so many people think they can handle it just because they can swim. I'm a very experienced boater and swimmer and I wouldn't risk it right now!

A few of my favorite things about Ludington:
- walking to the lighthouse
- ice cream at House of Flavors
- the Elk Farm tour
- walking a lama through the state park forest

I'm all geeked for this chickenstock business.
I have a need to go!
Bridal shower for my cousin's fiance a few days before...so hopefully I can still afford to make it...and hopefully my car will make it! xD
Trying to talk my Mom into going with me...if she can't I'll have to drag some other "unfortunate" soul along. >_<

Yes, come and bring your chickens, you'll probably find great homes for them plus get lots of great food to eat and meet some cool people! See you there! I'm bringing a friend who likes this kind of thing and enjoys little day trips.

I was looking forward to meeting so many people!
Aric just put some stuff out to the road to sell. I hate it. I know he's doing it because he knows how badly I wanted to go but I don't like stuff in the front yard like that

He also finished the bigger and better eggs sign. Now we're working on the little coop expansion.

Anyone need a lawn sweeper?? LOL

Come what may, the plan right now is, I'm going. Maybe (if I'm extremely lucky) The boyfriend will have the day off and he can come with me. Such hopes I have.

I have the big bucket filter- internal- from Grass Roots. I need a bigger pump./ Since I cant afford a bigger pump, I would love to set up an ADDITIONAL pump andhave an external. I have a fifty five gallon drum- but I dont know what media to buy to put in it, or the minimum size pump I need for it.
Everything you said sounds like ME. I have green sludge/slime in the bottom. We did drain most and daily I dredge out more sludge-

and it smells so disgusting...
I bought three bags of the beneficial bacteria, but that is not going to help with the sludge/slime/sheer greeness of the glop.

Im draining right now- I planned on doing a half water change. Just because I stirred up the glop by dredging the bottom. Its so gross.

My DH and I are planning on comming too. I might have to travel that week so I may or may not be able to bring butter cookies.....which would undoubtably call for a chicken cookie cutter! (as if I really need more cookie cutters)

Our 5 week old gosling has started to flip over and have what appears to be a sizure. This was just 2 nights ago. She has continued to have these episodes and this morning it looks like she is paralyzed on one side. The other 4 goslings are doing fine. This one is smaller than the others but was developing just fine.
Could this be a minerial defic such as "crooked neck" in chickens? I believe it is eating duck food but it is out grass and also getting bugs and grit.
Anybody also have this problem? We are worried sick. She is the favorite.
