Fall is on the way. No doubt about it. Looks like today is the last warm day we are going to have for awhile. I've got to build a plant stand so that Hope can bring a bunch of flowers inside. Picked the last of the of the beans and got the vines off the fence. Stood most of the butternut squash on the bottoms, til the vines dies off, to allow them to harden. Yep, definately fall activities.

Watched a lot of the 9/11 memorial programs yesterday; it was very touching. Hopefully nothing like that will ever happen again but I'm afraid that it might be wishful thinking. Pretty hard to guard against fanatics who have no regard for life, including their own.

Adorable! Is it a collie or sheltie? I grew up with labs and a sheltie and a collie. My parents have a sheltie now. They are so pretty

So the clan were out free ranging and I could not spot them out the window from the kitchen for a while so I went out to check on everything. I walked around the usual hang outs to no avail. I began to walk a little faster when I thought I heard the idiot (ee cockeral) sound off. I ran only to find this very peaceful sceen.

Have a great day everyone!

That is such a beautiful pic! Love Shelties! Had one for 15 yrs and still miss her. She was the smartest dog I've ever seen. Oh, well.
Hi Angela. Don't know if you saw the post that I said Krisrose and I are in Davison, also. Howdy neighbor. Looks like a beautiful day is upon us.... enjoy everyone!

I hope this isn't the last nice day of the summer. I have to spend it in school.

Mondays and Wednesdays are 12+ hour days on campus, then there is homework to be done. What was I thinking?

I should have worked on partitioning the garage for the winter coop but I went to campus on Saturday and didn't get home until after dark. Did homework Sunday while watching the Lions, so no coop work again. Maybe tomorrow...

Why put off till tomorrow what you can procrastinate about today!! LOL.
You know Raz, I was thinking about partitioning off the back part of my garage incase it got very cold here this year. I'd be pretty easy, and I wouldn't worry about the chickens getting too cold out in the coop if were get negative 20s again this year like last year... I could easily partition off 40 feet of space, and my garage never gets below freezing, AND there is already a dog door to the outside that they'd be able to use to free range... plus, I figure it'd be the perfect place to start meat chickens in the spring...

OK, I cleaned up chicken mess last night... Not the coop, that doesn't need it yet, but pretty soon... I mean all the rinds and peals from the apple, watermelon, cantaloupe, and cucumbers... My chickens acted like I was going to starve them of there goodies! They were chasing me around and grumbling! I mean, come on! How much more were they thinking they could get out of pecked clean shells!

My mom heard the "egg song" for the first time yesterday when Buffy went and laid her egg yesterday. Mom didn't realise that hens could get that loud when they are laying. Oh man... Buffy gets very loud. I told Mom, "Well, you got loud when you pushed out your kids, so do chickens!" LOL

I read here on BYC that people have given their chickens goldfish treats... are you talking about GOLDFISH or goldfish, the snack that smiles back? And if you mean real goldfish... Are they dead or alive? I can get feeder gold fish for .10 a fish... but, wasn't sure if it was meant actual goldfish...

Well, I hope ya'll have a good morning, afternoon, day! Gotta not stay on to long. Been getting headaches reading all the different forums lately. But I have learned a WHOLE lot.
