\\Yeah I saw it! That is really cool. I am on the south end, near Bristol road.

I am so happy (my hubby just shakes his head silently laughing) my little EE sits on my shoulder! I have to get a pic tonight to post. My others are shy around me, and only come to me if I have treats. They actually beg in the evening, we have this whole routine. It's quite funny to see.

As for hawks, we have TONS! Since there is a bean field behind our neighborhood (right at the end of my back yard) the sit in the fence row. My coop is close to the house and quite shelterd, so they are safe there.

We're near Bristol and Irish. We have a soy bean field behind us. Sounds like you're pretty close to us. Had a close call with hawk last evening. Luckily I was out and was able to keep it from getting any free meals.

Good morning, my fellow Michiganders! What a beautiful day it is today, eh? A bit overcast, but temp is nice!

I'm UBER excited about my very first broody hatch - I don't know why I've never done this before! I gave her 6 olive egger eggs and they're due to hatch Friday/Saturday.

But, I've really been missing blue and green eggs...I was going to pick up two hens from mrschickendad, but then she had a predator issue and lost the two that she was going to be letting me have. So - if anyone has any Ameraucanas or EEs that are young/POL (nothing over a year), please PM me as I'd love to add a few to my flock! Many thanks!

Hope everyone is well!

Good afternoon Michiganders! Thank you for all your support the other night. The ISA I was worried about is still alive, but still perplexing. Harlan, this may be one for you. For others, here's the background:
Okay. Deep breath for myself. We have 3 ISA Browns approx. 6 months old. Last week the oldest looking one, most robust and general leader looked a little gimpy. I immediately isolated her while my husband and I monitored her symtoms. She was unsteady on her feet and stretching her neck upward and wide open silent beak for each breath. We assumed gapeworm. Also assumed with her lethergy and scary breathing she would not make it. Treated her with Wazine 17. Fully helped the gaping mouth. She is also eating well-scrambled egg and reg. chick. food mixed with water and vitamins. She has no interest in drinking. NOW however, she is still not standing and her entire right wing and leg have no control. Is this temporary? Should I put her back in the coop to live this way? She seems bored in her safe hall closet box. Any advice would be great.

Jenverva - I would suspect Mareks, as that typically involves one side. I hope I am wrong!

ETA: Is it possible that she hit her head on something?

My neighbor is the manager there and she told me, but Thanks!! Dawn just got chickens this summer, so she's ordering all things related!

Her daughter just got two silkies from Shelleyb1969. Another chicken addict in the making!!

Wazine 17 is a brand name. The active ingredient is Piperazine. Piperazine treats roundworms only.

ETA: I do think Wynette had a valid guess though in that it sounds like it may be Mareks. I would not return her to the coop until you are certain you know what is wrong and have determined it is not contagious. (Marek's is highly so.)
