I just wanted to stop in and say hi to all my Michigan peeps. I think it has been over a year since my last visit. I am still alive and kicking. I still have all my birds.....and now we have added sheep to the farm. Hopefully some of the old timers are still here that know me. lol

oops, well hope the sister who ever she belongs to has relented

SNOWFLAKE,

I THINK THE PROBLEM IS ALMOST SOLVED AS I CAN NOW USE EASIER MEANS TO REACH THE FIRST POST I HAVE NOT SEEN . STILL CANT GET TO IT AS I USED TO WITH THE OLD SITE . MAYBE SOMEDAY. THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION. AND THE QUESTION..... BUT THE RELUCTANT SISTER IS SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM. I DON'T HAVE HIS NAME ON HAND. & I'M SUBMITTING THIS BEFORE I LOOK IT UP. BOB

I know nothing about football!

My Ameraucana chick is out. It's name is Earl.... as in Earl E. Bird. The Maran looks like it's going to be next. Earl happens to be REALLY noisy. Also big on knocking the other eggs around. I did catch the little bugger pecking at another pip trying to take shell off. I guess he's lonely.

I like Earl, if it is a hen it can bee Earleen

Well we got each and everyone of the girls nails trimmed. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it'd be although it doesn't seem like we took that much off. We blunted & rounded them. Almost all for except a few of them bleed a teeny tiny bit even though we didn't seem to trim that much.We had a dish of septic powder for each one stand in for a minute or two before we released them. They still seemed long to me but my DH said that we couldn't go any farther because the vessels were right there.....possibly the longer the nail the farther out the blood vessel is? I told him next time I'd like to find someone experienced, get a 4H kid / instructor....someone who's done this before to actually demonstrate how far down to go.

Here are a few pics....Sorry no polished nails. The time I would of spent polishing a bird or two was spent fishing my DD out of the field of mud she got stuck in.....literally stuck where she kept loosing her boots.

One of my Orps.....The cut off leg of a pair of jeans worked GREAT.....So simple to slip on!

Gerty.....my favorite Isa...she's the darkest out of the 4.

Dusty was the hardest to catch but easiest to do.

My daughter's muddy boots!! The mud was 3-4 inches thick at the bottom.

Msue loved the photo essay, great pics. I am going to have to try that pantleg trick too.

Lovely here this morning, sun is shining, sky is blue. Girls were very happy to come out this morning, and so was I - too bad I have to w#@k.

Hi zephyrcreek, I think I got eggs from you last spring - delawares?

Man, it's hard to catch up on all the posts....I give up! lol

This is my oldest daughter, Remington with our favorite chicken, Khaleesi.

Also this is my 1 year old niece (who ADORES chickens...actually she's obesessed with them) The other girl is my middle daughter, Montana)

Drake seems to be doing better... standing better balanced, quacking a bit more. I can't see that he is eating anything, but looks like he is drinking.

Thanks.

That is kinda where I got the name from, and someone that I use to know, would always call me farmerboy, every time he sees me, like every couple years.

I loved Laura Ingalls books, read all of them like 5 times each.

Raz,
I hope I did not offend you when I laughed at Extra Crispy's name under the circumstances. I am sorry you lost her.

What other names do you have for your chickens?

Thanks.
