Opa you beat me to it!! we have a very similar set up used a pig feed pan with a 5gal, had problems with feed flow so we put a funnel or tall rounded pot inside and that helped keep the feed flowing. we usually use ours in the summer when we go away for the week,. did the same for water but DH put very small holes in the waterer, works great in the summer when they are drinking more water
I made a feeder that can hold more than 100 lbs, and zero feed waste on Saturday, and would like your opinions on it before I make 8 more.

The chickens have to reach way in to get the feed, that way they can't scoop the feed out with their beaks. It took me about a hour to assemble the whole thing. All the wood was from the strap pile.

Thanks!

I love Mennards, they are much better than HD or Lowes. I wish there was one near me.

I got rid of my carpet years ago because they hold so much dirt and yuck. I put hardwood floors in every room so now with shedding dogs, I get tumbleweeds. I have a broom just for inside that I use to sweep up the fur, then I throw it out for the birds to line their nests with. Maybe I should just open the door and use the leaf blower.
I'm with you on carpet. 30yrs. ago we had carpet & I was cleaning it ALL the time One day I got so mad I tore it all out while my DH was at work, we were lucky with that house it had nice hard wood floors under neath. when we moved out here the first thing we did was put in hard wood floors. got a steamer and I was using that today. makes the house feel so clean, no dry time(OK 5min.)

My goodness! I gave a squeal of delight when I saw these little fuzzies!

Raz, I wonder why it is the ladies seem so surprised to read about a man cooking or sewing. Many years ago I bought a very good New Home sewing machine so I could keep my sons clothing mended. I even bought a serger. I've made several quilts and have even made my own western shirts.

When I comes to cooking I can hold my own against almost anyone. While I don't do the amount of cooking as when my boys were still home, I still do a fair amount. Hope loves it when I make soups. I never use a recipe for soup, just a method I call cooking by gift and by gob. Last week I made a cream of potato soup using heavy cream, half & half, butter, celery, and bacon. Hope and Granny both absolutely loved it. Today, since Hope had to go do a bunch a her stepfather's house, I'm fixing a vegetable beef soup with acini di pepe pasta.

I insisted that my sons all learn how to cook, sew, clean, wash & iron. I wanted them to never feel they needed to have someone in their lives for that reason. It's much better to be with someone because you want to be with them instead of because you need a house keeper.

when my son wanted to learn how to sew my DH had a fit "thats not boy stuff" I taught him any way hi can at least still sew enough to get by, and he is a good cook, another thing we did often when the kids were young, They also had to clean and do laundry, A good thing too cause my sons wife has a high power job and many hobbies and house work is not very high on her list.

But no one has time to do a lot of cleaning now days with both parents working but its good enough, and they all survive,

well hello!

So, anyway, who did not love the 50° weather today? I did not want to go in the house! Got the duck coop cleaned. Always z high-light of z day. Not. Pooping machines. I am so going to have great soil. I found a present, or 2. In the straw. To pretty Scatter eggs. I was wondering why I hadn't gotten eggs from her over the weekend. Well found them. Lately it is an egg hunt. I will be in practice for Easter... Yup. You would think with 3 nest boxes for 5 laying hens...

welcome to byc raspberrysalad.
