Heyy!! Wow, I haven't been here in forever!!! Glad to see you all!!! =)

I'm looking for some poults...approximately 10-12. Anyone here have any...or know a decent place to get some that won't cost me an arm and a leg (although they could have my bad ones that aren't working well lately lol).

Any info is greatly appreciated!!! =)

Welcome back! I only know of a local auction, Townline, and Cedar Creek Hatchery. that may have poults. Of course that's out here in the Muskegon & Ravenna area.

Bianca- so glad the G.R. center called you about the chicks. Congrats on the cuties.
Ladyfeather- hello

Well, today is so nice! A bit breezy, but me and the chickens don't mind it. As soon as I let them out, they were all spread out in the yard sunbathing. Right now some of them are behind the pole barn searching for treats. Some of our grapevines and wild raspberries grow there so maybe they are finding some leftover dried berries from last year.
I put Neil out in our fenced in area. I don't want to let him totally loose until he's had a good number of days where he can see and be seen by the others. A few of the girls came near, but didn't stay long. By the way he was acting, I think he wanted to be on the other side of the fence. Our bantam roo Gomer came by, too. They decided to spar through the fence. I went over and moved Gomer away and picked him up to have a little talk about leaving Neil alone. By the looks of it, Neil managed pretty well on his own as Gomer had injuries to his wattles that were bleeding. Neil, however, had no injuries. Since then, Gomer hasn't gone near Neil so I guess Neil got his point across well enough. I guess we'll see.

Welcome LadyFeather, my advice is a bit different: go directly to the source. The text of both the MRTFA and GAAMPS are readily available on the Michigan State website. Don't depend on what others tell you and what you read here, go read the text at the source.

Has anyone with satellite internet been having trouble getting online yesterday or today? Our neighbor and I were off this morning and here and there yesterday. DH is thinking sunspots. Other than hearing the northern lights might be visible the other night, we haven't heard anything.
We've been having issues the past few days. I unhooked then rehooked all the connections, power cycled, you name it. Finally, DH and I decided to shut it down for a few hours and try again and it worked. Don't know if it's sunspots making things wonky, but it's possible. I think I read last week that there was something that occurred (solar winds?) that was going to cause disturbances, but I thought that was over already.

Did Neil do his little dance for the ladies? He does love his girls. I was a little anxious to see how Neil would do with other roos. It took him quite a while to climb the pecking order with the big girls as he and Cadbury are 10 weeks younger than the original 3 I got. I didn't know if he would hold his own or not. Your little banty must have some chutzpa. Neil's got to be 3 times his size.

Thanks for the Neil update!

Found this on the hughsnet forum posted 8 hours ago which is about right for my loss of service:

SPACEWAY NETWORK OUTAGE NOTICE

HughesNet SPACEWAY HN9000 service is currently unavailable. We have engineering teams working to restore service to these customers as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back for updates.

Non-SPACEWAY customers are not affected. Your system modem model number on the front of your unit will tell you if you are an HN9000 customer

I have a chick! A pure yellow chick from a brown ostrich egg. Dunno what kind it is, but its hatched and alive!

(well I have lots of chicks,,,but I mean from Theron!)

The first orstrich egg has hatched, four of the duccle eggs have pipped..and another ostrich..and I went out and disrupted the broody and she has at least one pip..she pecked the heck out me so I retreated.

Now that the dumb silkie quit being broody, I cant scam the babies in the house under the broodies. My plan was to let them raise them...

Im gonna cry here..I have TWO pens of babies in the house. I wanted to let the hens raise this batch. Nope, wont be happening.

How many chicks can a frizzle handle? I dont want her to have too many to care for. Or else, I would be giving her these.

ETA:

NOVA- your chick says Hello. AND ALSO, dontcha want a second one to be its friend?

The first little duccle is out!

I use to raise Emu's and Rhea's but never Ostrich. I had a disagreement with an Ostrich one time and the Ostrich won so I stayed away from them things.
How did you get started with Emu's, eggs or chicks? I so much want to do emu's but I'm scared since I have never been around one. What if I hate them or are scared of them?

the little yellow one sure surprised my I am assuming she is an EE but not sure, ordered EE's, Wel's, Dom's, and GLW's any ideas if I am right about that?
Haven't seen a yellow EE but who knows. Those Wellies are cute! Glad they made it ok.

I spent the day cleaning out the coop. I didn't spray or treat any birds today, just cleaned. Normally it's a simple process that DH backs the trailer up to the coop and I shovel it on and unload it on the garden. However we have so much mud he couldn't get the trailer over there. So my son and I moved it all by wheelbarrow that seemed to have two low tires. It took most of the day but it is cleaned out and vacuumed. Tomorrow I have to scrub birds and spray the coop.

DH had told me there would be chicks at TSC tomorrow, which I checked on and they couldn't tell me breeds yet. Tonight he calls from town to tell me there are chicks today and do I want any.

The same guy giving me a hard time about how many I have? I told him no, I didn't want what they had, but I will be calling tomorrow to see what they have then.
