My 5 lbs cat thinks she's a cougar, does that count?

My, but it is funny to watch her chase deer.. seriously dear Pipkin, what would you do if you caught it?

I am really crossing my fingers that she has gone broody, she has been spending a lot of time in her nest lately..... last time i got excited it just took her a long time to lay an egg and that was it.

but now i'm stuck with a dilemma, cause i found lice again today, yuck. Don't know if it was brought on by the weather, and all the ranging, or uncle phil's free range roos he just adopted next door....
either way, i have to treat, but i am thinking the eggs that i set aside in there are probably no good for hatching on account of the heat, and i don't know about keeping eggs to hatch from a newly treated hen.... but boy those buggers sure multiply!!!!
I wondered why my girl was trying so hard to get me to scratch her chin! (I swear she thinks she's a cat, i have heard her purr before too)

I was reading in a chicken 101 book... in otherwords, I don't know the title, but it was saying that you should treat a broody hen for lice and mites so that you do not have to worry about the chicks getting them. She wouldn't be laying eggs while she's broody. SO, if she does, give her a treatment on the back of her neck and make sure she has a clean next/brood box. A plastic tote nest box would work great...

do you think the eggs she has now would be any good? it has been terrifically hot in there this week.... sign in coopersville said 91 today, yuck!

OK, so here is what I accomplished today, even though I wanted to rest my laurels and do nothing...
Got two burn piles going. I had a pile of leaves and dog excrement pretty close to my slider under my deck... moved that to the dip in the back yard and lit that up, and lit up the other pile that I have been trying to get to finish burning for several rounds now... Its a lot smaller now, still smoldering. Just a lot of wetness in it still. I still have the pit to do...

Got the duck coop washed out...

Got the carpet downstairs cleaned up. I wish I had a steam cleaner, but I don't. Had to do it the hard way, but its done.

Got the mole holes tamped down, and the dog holes from mole hunting raked back in... I need to add soil now cuz it just disappears... How the heck is that possible?

I did not kill my kid. Even after I told him to stop swinging that dam chain around for funsies and he hit his brother. I did not beat his rear either. I did one better. I made him go in the house and sit with his grandma. HE HATES THAT. HEHEHE.

I did not hang myself in frustration after my mom... God bless her... opened up the slider screen all the way when I told her to open the slider door to let the air flow and cool the house... SO, she opens both all the way, because she thought that is what I meant. And after she asked me 3 times how long to boil the veggies, even though I explained 2 times to bring them to a boil, take the off the burner, drain and add oleo...3 TIMES...

So, my back yard is free of dog poo. It is free of winter sticks, leaves, blown trash... My side yard is almost clear of the same. The runs are almost refitted, and I almost have enough wood to build a new coop base for the dog coop to put outside. I almost have enough wire fencing to surround the winter run and make it a summer coop... AND I am almost ready for bed.

And I think Skatter is considering going broody. If she does... Then I am shoving all of Leilas eggs under her fuzzy butt along with what ever ones of hers I have on hand. AND Skeeter started laying again. Only her eggs are not the same pink they were. They are more skin tone.. My skin tone. She must be trying to impress me with her paint factory..
