Definitely sounds like a Bertha

lol Love it! :) Now it needs to be a hen so I can keep it.

Opa, last year my apple trees were sagging they had to many apples! Had a good turnout of pears too. This year...I'm thinking we'll be short on both. Not very many buds and it keeps frosting.

I love baking apple pies/apple crisp but need my apples to do so!

So far there are 5 chicks out and waddling around the bator! Some silkies and some Speckled Sussex.

I've missed seeing the little chipmunk sussex running around so it'll be a fun hatch to see how many we get!

Mine are all doing well. Muskegon County. The trees are in full bloom and I expect a bumper crop again. Of course I was very worried but nothing got hit here. I was more concerned about blueberries. I think there's a bigger problem for me though - bees. At least my wife thinks so. I may have to get a box of bees to help.
X2 here. The Apples are in in their peak in blooms, and the cherries finished last week, but any farmers that have those huge fans, had them running every time there is a frost warning. I live smack in the middle of the apple county, we even have a few apple trees that are over 100 years old in our front yard, so we are updated on what apple production will be like this year. Juise- Hope your little girl will heal fast. Silly- The brooder box looks great, our hogs are settling in great, they and the week old piglets come running to the gate for the evening meal. :welcome Emaw, Besjoux and Mzkynd, and a few others that I may have missed. Have a great sunny day, and yes I am tired of the wind. :he

Thanks for the links! I've read so many township/village/city ordinance websites my head is spinning. I thought for sure I had checked Milford and Highland with no luck. I love that Municode website. Of course the village is different than the townships but Highland is way more friendly to people of the "farming" persuasion. The next hurtle is figuring out this association's policy.

Have a great day all!

We're still talking about the pigs...

I planned on knocking together the frame for the girls' garden today, but I am on day 3 of being miserably ill, so we'll see whether or not I can muster the energy and not-pukeyness to actually get that done.
Hope you're feeling better!!

AND, here is something else to do with those egg shells aside from composting or feeding back to the girls. This I am going to have to try, cuz... Well, its just to cute! Bet it'd be something fun to bring to an elderly community as well. AND to kindergarten/preschool when its your turn to provide snacks.
This is so cool! I totally want to try it.

That or I want to go into zoology and into endangered birds of prey study or conservation.

The issue lies in being happy doing a lot of things and many don't pay the bills. I'm close to getting a Bachelors in something if I settle and get a counselor on to evaluate my credits.
You sound a lot like I was the last time I went to school...I had about 5 different majors over 7 years and did't know what I wanted to do. Finally I said, ok this is getting expensive, let's take a break! So, I made some major life changes, moved, and decided to do something I should have done 10 years ago. Now I'm almost done, I graduate in 7 weeks...no wait, 6! Holy crap!

You guys really have to stop talking about gaming. You just can't be gamers. You seem like such nice people otherwise.

Baby tried to take her face off by leaping over the back of the couch.
OMG this is terrible! I hope she feels better soon, that is a nasty looking injury! (Been there myself a couple times, hehe)

How cute!!

SO anyway. Not much going on over here in my world. BF has been talking non-stop about buying a truck camper so he's been showing me 8 bajillion pictures of different ones. He found a 2012 that is only like $9K at some surplus place that we looked at last night, it's brand new, never been used. Nothing is wrong with it either, it's just super cheap, so he's thinking of buying it. He's itching to go camping, and so am I!! I just need to find some chicken babysitters...

I really want to get my garden planted, I hope this weekend is nice. I'm a couple weeks behind when I normally plant so I feel like I'm slacking. I also need to find some time to run to Sec of State today & the bank...I have no time for all the stuff I need to get done!! Plus I'm supposed to be in hell (work) until 7 but I think I'm gonna leave at 5. Have to find a time to tell my boss I'm quitting today too...that'll be fun since she's already stressed about losing some other semi-imporant people and there's an audit going on. Bummer. Not for me, hehe.

My chickens seem like they are less tame since I put them outside, just because I don't feel like I have as much time w/them due to school and work, and I feel bad. They come running when they see me walking out to their yard but they don't like me to hold them anymore. I know I'm a dork, but I like to hold my chickens!! They hover around when I give treats but then when they're gone they go back to doing chicken things. Should I just try to hold them more often, will they get more used to it again? Or should I just let it be the way it is? I'm still new to all this stuff so some of my questions probably sound stupid, lol.

Ok I'm gonna try to do some work for a few minutes I guess....
