I have had 3 hours of sleep and the day from hell but I agree with chicken grandma...enjoy the time you have with your significant other. My dad's wife died this morning after a hard fought battle with cancer. Cancer that had ravished her entire body. She had been my step-mother for almost 30 years...nearly my entire life. It still wasn't enough time. So while I wish I could sit and post...I'm going to go drink a glass of wine and try to decompress. A belt on our van took a poopy today too, on the way to my son's soccer game, so it really has just been a hellacious day. Thank goodness for family, and dirty socks, and wet laundry, hairy floors and kids who destroy our houses as fast as we can clean them.

Brethren, what kind of chickens do you want? And where are you again?

Mom likes the top hats of the polish and the Welsummers of Kellogg Cereal fame. Typically she does not like all black chickens, says they look mean, but saw Black Austrolorps in person and was astounded at how beautiful they were. I like brown egg layers, definitely DP, colored eggs are fun, but I have champagne taste and a beer budget. My original plan was quite different than what it is now. Mom has shown such an interest in the chickens, just want to keep her interest going. It has been a good diversion for her since dad died last December of cancer.

Oh, VJ, I am so very sorry for your loss. At least now she is in a better place and is no longer feeling the pain, even though you and your family will for a long time to come. Cancer is not pretty, and I, as well as several other members of this thread know what your family must have been going through. God be with you and your family, and see your mother home.

I second that. A complaint now and then is expected, but I would never trade it for the world.

vj- sorry you are not having a good day and for the loss of your step-mother.
brethren- whenever I am troubled by a loss, a distraction has always helped me through. May your mom's new hobby give her the diversion she needs while still dealing with her loss.

You've been battling those things for a while now. Or am I confusing you with someone else? Might I suggest moving your repeat dose up quite a bit? In the course of three weeks you've had as many as four generations of mites hatching on your chickens. That's a huge explosion in population each time.
Yes, it's me and I just found a starling nest in the eaves of the coop, which is how the whole thing started. I'm trying to get mean and pull out the peeping baby and be done with them, but I haven't yet.

Shooting a coyote isn't the same as baby bird - very hands on. MSU vet told me only every three weeks, Is it ok to do it sooner? Do I have to reduce the dosage or keep that the same?

CG - I was told if I used Adams I would have to toss the eggs for a week so I didn't use it. It sounds simple to use.

vjwilmoth- So sorry about your stepmother.

RaZ- Great job on taking in another ducking.

Anyway, I got the test results in the mail today from the Lab about if my experiment had worked ridding of MG in the eggs....
