Mid march hatch a long

4 of mine were 12 days old and 3 others are 10 days old and are doing fine. yours that were a week old do have a chance. Good luck and happy hatching!

I hope you are right. I kept holding off becuase i wasnt sure what I wanted to do. If they all hatch that will be awsome!

out of the 38 BC Marans, and BBS marans eggs I set, 24 are doing great. I candled them 4 days ago and those were all good looking little swimmers! The other 14 I'm not sure on most of them- they looked clear or like blood rings, but some of those shells were SO dark, so I left them. Tonight is beginning day 15 so Lockdown starts Saturday night. I'll candle again then and take out any for sure quitters. Hatch day should be next Tues/Wednesday.....

My other bator has 4 Sebastopol goose eggs and 15 Bev Davis line BC Marans eggs... The goose eggs are all growing and on day 8 and the BCM eggs are on day 6. I've not candled those yet.. and may not til much later as they are very dark too. Those should be getting ready to hatch the 22nd of March and my goose babies should appear around March 27th. God Willing!

I put a d'uccle egg in from my own flock a few days ago, just to see if roo was doing his job. He is! Little veins already. I was in shock..lol.

Just candled mine today at day 14 and out of 7 eggs 5 are very dark, that's means they're good right! (I assume that is the chick growing, my first time incubating

) And 2 look clear I don't see a single thing in them. One I know there is a chick in there, I could feel it moving in the eggs, so cool! I can't wait to see what these little chickies look like

I'm bummed, even though I've got 24 good eggs with chicks still growing in them (and going into lockdown tomorrow night) but my very darkest BCM eggs were all clear. I candled them again last night and they were bright all the way through...I was so careful to make sure there wasn't anything dark inside that I was missing- so when I took them out to egg-topsy, I was just making a tiny hole at the air sac end and then proceeding from there...they were just warm clear eggs- air sacs looked fine, and inner membrane around the yolk and whites. 2 did have blood rings, so those 2 did start something- but the others didn't even start. They were shipped eggs bought from the BST threads here on BYC, but why did just the darkest ones not grow? All the lighter ones seem fine. So disappointing...well, I'll see what I get from these and have to breed any good specimens back to darker egg shell hatched ones next year I guess...
