Might lose Delilah... UPDATE: Seems Okay At the Moment

Monique, I hope this week is a better one for you. The problems and dramas really keep us jumping sometimes, dont they?

I hope she's ok Cyn, I know you've been through some hard times this year and I'm pulling for you and your birds.

At least these are all separate issues, none the contagious type of thing, so for that, I'm very grateful! I'm definitely WAY out of the honeymoon period with this flock and the more time that passes, the more things I'll see.

On a positive note, the 5th hen that seemed to be dying from internal laying, is doing very well now. Her color is good, she's gained weight, and she's very energetic. She hasn't laid an egg, however, and still could take a turn downhill, but for now, Ivy is much better than when my RIR, Rosemary died. So, I'll be very happy if by some miracle, she recovers and lives to lay another day. She was my very first Barred Rock, she and Lexie. They'll be 3 yrs old in March.

Thanks so much, Stacey. We installed a window in the Delaware coop today; found one at the flea market for $6, a nice double paned, casement/crank window. We were so tired and sore from other chores, plus the construction and then had two different issues with birds after that. I think I'm going to logout in a few minutes to get some rest... er, more like pass out!

Carri, we have to count by breeds or types. I think there are about 45 birds that freerange at one time. Tonight, Mace didn't want to go in, probably because Dutch has been chasing him all over the place today. Mace, sweet Mace, even gave me trouble today.

So far this morning, Delilah seems fine. What the heck that was, I dont know. You know me, though--I do NOT like mysteries with my chickens!
