Used to raise budgies. Great little birds the genetics are fascinating You can get many combinations of colors even with 2 normal greens. They are colony breeders so may have better luck with more than I pair. Even 1 pair and an extra mAle( in a separate cage in sight/ hearing range may be all you need.

I was going to breed by my female flew away:(

actually companion birds are more likely to become egg bound and get egg yolk peritonitis than chickens. Chickens lay eggs everyday and birds do not. Chickens are built for the task of everyday egg laying and even then they get eggbound occasionally. If you plan on breeding be sure to supply the birds with plenty of calcium and have them on a good diet. Seed only diet is just asking for problems. They need pellets, fruit, and veggies.

I have two parakeets I am looking to rehome. They are both of the pied variety. One being a dilute blue golden face clearflight and the other is a lutino pied. I believe on is a male and the other a female. Both birds are under 8 months of age though. Let me know if you are interested.

Actually, my parakeet had no pellets for most of his life and you could tell that he was really healthy and happy. I only give mine a few pellets because they have tons of fruit in them. If you gave them plenty of healthy foods there is no need for pellets, though, I won't argue.

Your budgies sound gorgeous but I just got a new one:)

Yeah, I'm really afraid of that.. I would never just give them pellets.
