Mild Angel Wing or Nothing to Worry About?

I don't think that niacin will help with angel wing, but it won't hurt.

That's strange, all my experience and research showed that niacin deficiency played a big part in angelwing. My drake developed a bad case of angelwing at the same time another began having leg issues. I found out niacin deficiency leads to both of those problems. I'll attempt to find the articles I read. Either way, sorry if I confused you! And I also still think it wouldn't hurt to give them more supplement/ yeast. Wrapping the wing would be a good idea to fix it before it gets worse

I did my best to get that part of the wing in the correct spot (per matching it up with the other wing and from watching videos) and we vet wrapped her. She got it off immediately with a good old flapping of the winglets. Of course. :) I went the other route and repositioned the wing and then wrapped all the way around the duck (so it looks like the sock method I've seen but with vet wrap since it's water proof). It's not too tight and not too loose and even when she attempted to flap the offending feathered area stayed correctly positioned. She is getting around just fine so for now we are good. I'll see if this helps get that area back into place.

At first I also thought it was just weird feathers and a molt would take care of it and for all I know that is still the case but I didn't want to risk it in case it's not and then have it be too late to do anything to correct it.

We followed all the awesome instructions we got from BYC when raising her and added brewer's yeast to her food, cut her protein down after 3 weeks on chick starter and added oats (which is hated) to her food to try to basically offset the added protein from the brewer's yeast. We did our research since she was our first ever duck, but sometimes even the best care can't prevent everything. I had no idea how complicated ducks were! Wouldn't trade her for the world though. :)

It looks more like one or two feathers didn't grow in right, maybe they were bent or damaged somehow early on and stayed that way. Even if it is angel wing, it is not bad, and provided it does not get worse it will not negatively impact her quality of life. I have one duck with a similar looking wing and it's been that way since the day I adopted her. You would never know by the way she acts or the way the other ducks treat her. She seems totally normal in every other way. I agree that wrapping could help, and certainly will not hurt. If still growing, I believe you are meant to take the wrap off overnight and apply a new one in the morning and not leave the wrap on 24/7.

I waited too long to wrap one of mine. :hit
