Mille Cochin Info

They look great, Sandy! Spring on your farm is going to be blooming FANTASTIC! :love

Thank you Amy, and yes it will...today was a bit warmer and it was so funny watching them take their dirt bathes. lol
My husband has even gotten attached to them...I mean who can't love these tiny little babies...they are just so sweet. :)

you'll have to let us know what colors she sends.  i've got 5 silver laced chicks hatched that i have hopes for...  the ones i hatched from hers before were totally gorgeous, but i was broke and had a moment of stupidity. :he

I will definitely let y'all know what she sends. I'm sorry you sold your laced ones....Oh how I would love to have a few!!

And I just realized your from Roanoke. My husband went to college there, ts a small world! :)

Beautiful pics, all!
Mike that sounds liek a great idea, a "big" idea, I expect it'll take some time, but I like it

And another one of my baby girl Hope. She is SO rotten...she comes running to me when I call her name and she loves for me to hold her. Anytime one of the boys tries to mate with her she comes running to me to save her! LOL

I have a Silkie hen who does that, isn't it the cutest??! She knows when she's on my lap she's "safe" & I'll keep the rooster away !

Awe!!! Yes, that's it too "whew, I'm safe with mommy" LOL

Sandy, I am glad he is loving them. For a while there I thought he just might shoot me! He is an awesome man and I am sure he is going to enjoy all your new hatches and whatever next spring holds for you all.
I sold my silver laced bantam Cochins to Tricia and Amy got some of them, too. They were the ones running the Chickenstock. Since I could not seem to get any different blood, I decided to give them up. I am sure they will sell eggs from them if you want to get started. As lovely as they are, if I can't improve on something then I let someone else try their hand at it.
I did keep one nice girl back for my Frizzle project and any other color projects though! I am thinking my blue roo might look nice with her........

Quote: well, i've got 5 more... i'm hoping for at least 2 pullets and 1 cockerel. 3/2 would be better, to give me some variation to work with to choose the best match, but i'll take what i get. 8)

to put it back on mille fleur topic, i also have 8 3 week old chicks, 5 2 week old ones, and 6 more eggs in the hatcher due tomorrow, and 6 more due next week... at least that pen is being reliably predictable.

Thanks!
LOL Macho is out of Ruby Rod and Inky, the very first birds I bought.. from you!

I remember seeing Ruby Rod's picture on your For Sale page on your website.. I knew I really wanted him!

Back then my hubby thought I was crazy for spending so much money shipping a couple of chickens... OH How Far We've Come!!!

Since then, in Mille Fleurs, I bought birds from Twyla and Lynne (and hatched eggs from Roslyn).. After quarentine and introduction, all of my MF Cochins ran together.. so now I have chicks like Motley
who I have no idea who his parents are...
some of the older chicks I can make a good guess at who they're out of; like Sandy, I'm certain her mother is Peaches.

I'm looking forward to getting breeding pens set up, though, especially now that the oldest pullets are starting to lay, and the oldest cockerels are jumping everything that doesn't move fast enough................ It's going to be SO much fun deciding who goes with whom!
Can't wait to see those chicks

This little pullet was hatched mid april from WestknollAmy project MF eggs.
Wondering what everyone thinks of her? Really be honest..... Do you think she is something to work with on project MF's or should I go ahead and get rid of her. She is only about 7 months old. She has pretty decent type and excellent foot feathering but she is small.

If you think I should keep her, what should I put her with? I have a couple young nice looking 5 month old mottleds that came from Ken and Bernita Miller's line.
Other than that I only have a couple typey Columbians.... If none of these, what should I be on the look out to put her with?

Thanks!

I hope these pictures help. She wasn't cooperating very well!
