Mille Cochin Info

Thanks :) She's Mottled, I don't have any plans to use her in my MF project. Going to get a really nice Mottled roo in a few months for her & her Blue Mottled sister.

Great pics, as always, Mike!

She's out of Roslyn's (Lucky Pickens) eggs! Roo is coming from Ken Splett

Wow. I'm surprised she's from Rosalyn's stock. Out of the over 100 eggs bought / 60+ I hatched of hers, not one has been the right type. I've had hard feathers, sparse leg/foot feathering, white legs and unthrifty chicks. I think one or two of her mottleds came from Bo, though.

I have a blue and a MFC from her eggs yet. I am hoping the blue is decent. So far, she's been unthrifty. She's from her Champ's pen.

The supposed chocolate... Looks MFC to me.

Now that i am looking at the picture better... In the flash lighting... It does look chocolatey-ish. With a red head.

Quote: that's strange, i've had great luck and quality from roslyn's eggs... IMO her blacks and mottles are probably her best, but the silver laced i had (and stupidly sold, which is why i ordered more) were very nice. but i was impatient and needed cash, so...

growing out 5 silver laced, 1 buff barred (lost 1 other that hatched), 2 red and 1 partridge. so 10 hatched from 17 fertile/developing eggs. first hatch was 8/24 (my first shipped eggs ever) second was 6/12. this bunch was my 3rd shipment from her.

CUTE pics Bobbie!

Karen I didn't know Roslyn had Buff Barred! I'm pretty sure I would have ordered them had I known. You must share pics

well, they just hatched last week, so they're still basically the same fluffballs i posted when they hatched. LOL i'll post more pics as they grow.

Well, I haven't had much luck. The two I have I don't even want to keep. The blue has been in the house for over a month because she was half the size of her hatch mates and while they were fully feathered, she had only wing feathers that were 2x the size of her. I had a black and a red from Rosalyn the same way. Both this blue and that black were daughters of Champ. I have pics of the buff columbians from her eggs with white feet and legs. To each their own, but I decided to quit wasting my money on eggs from her because I wasn't hatching out anything 'show quality' or even breeder quality imho. I honestly kept trying hoping to get something good.

The MFC, partridge based girl I kept from Rosalyn's eggs. She's pinched and long in the back. Sparse middle toe feathering... She has color and we all know type is more important that color. I kept her because... Well. I have Byron. Byron is my type fixer.

Quote: I am with you on that. I never got what I was supposed to and ordered 4 dz. I got some I did not order to hatch from those eggs but sold them due to I did not want them. I was hoping for Mottled but I got a few excuses why those weren't sent. I also did not get good hatch rates but understand the PO can be rough with boxes and did not blame the packaging or birds, as some are want to do when they do not get good hatch rates. I have seen some nice birds come from from her place though. What a shame I didn't get any. Oh well, live and learn.
