Mille Cochin Info

Pretty girl! great type!

I see you are a fellow Missourian! I'm from the Moberly area. Where are you?
About an hour south of Kansas City.

This is Quincy. He is in with 2 girls, the buff Mottled pullet and a MF pullet. I haven't liked any of the buff Mottled roos I have hatched out. Maybe she will compliment him with color and type.
Love love love!
I could not get good photos of the girls because of all the tall grass. With all the rain lately I haven't been able to mow much and they love all the grass. Anyone that knows my photos knows that I like my birds on fresh ground as much as possible and as much fresh grass as I can give them. The wind was blowing when I took the photos as we had another round of rain coming in. Since dark last night we have gotten an additional 3 inches. Ugh!

I'll say it again love love love!

Thank you all so much. I appreciate that you love my birds, especially since the only blood I have brought in since starting this was from Bantyman's roo and now I have several hens in breeding and have hatched from them but they are MF/Mottled and have excellent type! I sadly lost the roo he sent me.
Stay tuned as I continue to try and improve my birds.

I can't keep my eyes off Quincy! Gorgeous Amy! and… what kinda coop you got going on there…do you have plans for it? My 14 yr old son is raising the cochins, wants to build an 'A frame'? is that what ya call it? I call it a tee pee… anyway would love to have some plans to help him along.

If I ever do get back working with these guys I might try the large fowl and see what happens with that Even tho that will be a longer road
of course, you'll have to change your screen name.

I have some babies showing some promise! Well, in color anyways. These are Jr's kids, Byron's grandkids. Hopefully they have some nice type.

And Just because he was attacking my feet and I was playing with the camcorder of the camera...

Yes, I call it an A frame. Hate it! LOL I had seen so many of them at other farms and thought I would build one since it is a simple design.
Most people put the door in the middle so I guess theirs work a bit better but mine is small and I have to get down on the ground to do anything in there. I was sitting on the roosting bars to get the photos but to get a bird out of there that you have to use a net and a long arm. And still get on the ground. I'm too old for that. Better to catch at night when they are asleep on the roost.

Go to my Housing page on my website and scroll down the page (it is a huge page and a huge website) and you will see a better photo of it. Not my best build but it was my first A frame. I built more to sell to others and they looked better.

Coop cleaning and picture day!

^ MFCs - Millie on left, Mildred on right - Temp housing until tomorrow.

Junior and his girls. I only added Bridgette to the mix, otherwise, same girls.

^ Bridgette, 2nd floor, was Byron's favorite. Can you tell? ^

^ Poor Parti girl has no cushion left from breeding ^

Byron and his daughters (mostly Bridgette's daughter's, too - the calico is Millies)! And Chippy (OEGB). And Hot Pants (culled) and Smutty Buff's daughter, Mocha. I think I have a slight... major infatuation with Byron. He's such a mean, nasty, foot attacking SOB, but my gosh he's gorgeous!

^ Mocha ^

^ Mocha ^

^ My fave Byron x Bridgette daughter ^

^ Chippy ^

Byron went back over his own daughters to improve type. These Byron x Bridgette daughters are taking forever to fill out... I am hoping to get as many of Byron's chicks hatched as I can in the next month. I want a son of his to replace him and as many nice girls as I can get my hands on. I have a roo issue, though. All of my boys are related to all the girls in one way or another. Is double line breeding bad? Byron grandson over Byron granddaughter (of different mothers/lines)?

... Hehehe. They don't know I got this one. Devon, Makenzie and Mocha.
