Mille Cochin Info

LOL Ki4got! :)

BTW I was told pigs carry diseases that kill chickens. MY NPIP tester said pigs & chickens together is a big no-no.
I have never had a problem with them carrying diseases. They will kill a chicken if it gets in with them though.

you could always make the pigs live somewhere else. like the freezer?

They will be there in 6 months!

I was checking out your website and was wondering if you still have KK?

No, I sold KK. He was not producing as nice of offspring as Xavier so I sold him and have tried several others since. I still have Xavier and Schmoozle in breeding since they have fantastic type and I keep trying their sons to see if they can improve what I have going on.

Ok, I was just wondering. Good luck getting a rooster that produces what you want. What will you do with Schmoozle and Xavier then?

Hi! I'm new to chickens and was wondering if anyone can help me determine the sex of my 3.5 week little bantam Cochin. She's (hopefully) so beautiful I hope she's a pullet. Her name is butterball and she's a runt. I've researched and I still can't tell. Slightly pink comb but no sign of wattles. Heavy foot feathering but getting a lot of back and shoulder feathers. She hides under the black star chicks when scared. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry about pic quality or duplicate pictures. Still learning how to use this phone! .

Awww! She is a beauty. I guess girl.

So does anybody have an idea who to keep in breeding?

Sorry Country, I think all of your birds are gorgeous. Not sure if this will help, but, think TYPE. Someone on here, Amy? says look directly down on his back for that square frame. I'm sure you already know this, but perhaps it will help someone else.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I run my chickens through after my pigs to help clean up fly larvae. My NPIP guy says not to run chickens, turkeys or ducks together as they can share disease. NPIP docs err on the side of caution. I wanted to add turkeys, he said, 'people do it, but I wouldn't'.
