I have created a new website that features not only my Shetland sheep but also my Mille Fleur and Calico bantam cochin projects. I have photo albums on the site of both the MFCs:

and my pride and joy: my Calico Cochins.

The temporary address for the website is: http://bluffcountryshetlandsandbackyardchickens.webs.com I upgraded to a premium server on my website so that there are no ads and I will have my own domain name. The domain name should be in effect by Monday and will be the same as above but with OUT the "webs" in the URL

I hope you'll stop by and visit. Feel free to leave a comment!

Bluffcountry, those calicos are gorgeous!
I just love seeing the photos of everyones lovely birds.
I am still trying to get some of Lyns, can't wait.
Here are babies from my birds. The older pullet is about a month old, she is starting to get white mottling now, but has partridge markings.
Then the two little ones are only about three days old. The white chick is actually very light buff color. I am anxious to see how they turn out.

Here's one I am not sure whether to keep or sell.

This one I am keeping. I named him "Keeper" for now. Original, huh?

I need to update the "For Sale" page on my website to add more that I have but they don't always cooperate and I am not so good with a camera. But aren't the project birds pretty? I love to see everyone's and hear about them.
And aren't we growing in numbers as breeders? How wonderful!

Hey Folks

Been a long time since I have been on. Wanted to check in as about 3 weeks ago the wife and I decided to let our girl go wild - they'd been hanging out in the nest boxes so we let them keep their eggs. Soon all the other girls started piling in laying eggs. We have one millie fleur rooster, Crink, who is about a year old or so now and we have a couple of 9 month old millie fleur hens from eggs we got from Lynne

HELLO LYNNE, can you check your PMs...

So we got our first chick Saturday - it's mom is an all black bantam cochin named Biskit, we got her egg from Rbamterry back in July. Hey Rbamterry !!! whazz's up...

I've not been on much because I was diagnosed with Glaucoma and being online is real hard on the eyes... I'm working to keep what vision I have for as long as I can. Nan can post some for me too. Hope you guys have been enjoying the old recipes I posted.

Any of our friends here, we'd love to hear from you and as our chicks start hatching we'll post photos... Our roo is an F3 and so are the two millie hens, the girls may be a bit young to be good moms but we have a very happy flock...

Best Wishes from Michael and Nan Hale

I have four 6-7 week old chicks out of Lynne's stock (thank you Lynne!) so I think they are F4's. Having a difficult time guessing if they are roos or pullets though. If anyone is interested in taking a shot, I'd be very appreciative

Thank you!!!!!!

I have put a few pairs on my website on the "For Sale" page. They are from my beginning group so some have better color and pattern than others.

There are a few that I would love to keep but if this project is to grow I can't keep them all. Check out the bantam Cochin page on my website near the bottom to see a few that I have decided to keep.

Wow, MsBear, LOVE the trio you have.

I bought a pair from a breeder here in North FL today. It was at a swap meet and he was gone when I went back to get his name/number. Anyone have an idea who it might have been? I want to buy a few more pullets from him.

Here is the pair. The pullet is 5 months and the cockeral is 4 months. He was a result of a Millie bred back to a Buff Columbian. His type isn't great, but I thought with the right hens he might produce well enough. Now I just need to buy more hens!

Edited to add: after doing HOURS of research ... I think these came from Tate. I just didn't know it at the time!

Nadine!!! OMG!!! Is that standard Birchen Cochin yours, still alive, do you still have him, does he have chicks? If he's not yours, if you've sold him, who has him, where is he, please tell me he's not DEAD!!!!! OMG!!!!!! He is MAGNIFICENT!!!!! I'm not a standard person, but he's enough to make me consider it. I've got a beautiful bantam Birchen and I do really love the Birchens. To see that pattern on a standard and a really GOOD one is breathtaking.
Your LF Cochins on a whole are beautiful, I mean really outstanding, but gads that Birchen just knocks my eyes out.

OK, maybe I can stop effusing for a little bit. Sorry to digress but I just have to find out about this bird.
