Minnesota!

KlopKlop do you find all your birds want to be right in the yard next to the house too?

I have  way more land than you, I have 13 acres.  The birds all stay near the buildings and refuse to go into the pasture/field.
When I free range they cover the several acres of homestead but mostly stay by their coop after they tour around

remember when the bridge over Gooseberry was narrow and you could actually see the falls when you drove over? And my grandpa and I could catch brook trout at the mouth of the Baptism river in Tettegouche and not have crowds of tourists taking selfies, throwing rocks and digging for agates? There were no ugly tunnels blasted thru the hills north of Two Harbors and 61 just went around the cliffs? I miss that.

I am going to plant rye, clover, sunflowers and oats in a weird mix on my open land with hopes of getting them to range out there and forage seeds and grasshoppers.

I am planting the rye/clover this fall and will over seed oats and BOSS in the spring.

I will place a few toppers and shelters with water out there to give them protection from raptors.

If only firewood wasn't $6 for a few sticks at state parks... Another 'it's for the good of the environment' rule that is also really good at lining the governments pockets.

Hopefully when the rest of camp clears out today we can scavenge their leftovers and have a decent fire tonigt

That's sounds like a fantastic idea. recently they have been spending more time visiting the apple trees and eating windfalls. Then they hit the comfrey and continue their loop

I do remember that I lived in Grand Marias in the early 70s. The drive to Duluth was terrible. If we wanted to go to a movie we went to Thunder Bay because it was faster.
