I released my laying hens from the coop to free range today. They seem happy, I hope they go back into the right coop tonight.

Just had to add my nerdy two cents worth about the sock eating rooster.

Not necessarily PICA. Chickens will peck at just about anything that looks like food to them. Or if what they are wearing is annoying them. Or if something on theirs or another bird's butt looks attractive. A sock with yarns or strings hanging on it are highly attractive, just like twine or a string off the feed bag.
