Minnesota!

Let Tootsie in for a cracker and Sadie was there following and watching and behaving. She's really been pretty easy at training with the chickens. Love that and just remembering all my apprehension/nerves a couple months ago.

She's still a nut can though and DH won't be taking her out duck hunting this fall. She's not ready yet.

Awww Cute....

I can identify with that!

Having bought this place from my Brothers, and having had family living here for better that 100 years I have junk everywhere.  It seems I am suppose to get rid of the junk, but the good stuff is theirs or should be divided equally. I failed to see anyone offer to divide the last roll off dumpster charges.

We just went through that. Last weekend I filled up one roll off dumpster. Last year we hired a junk remover and filled one of their trucks.

And we're still not done. But it will be my place someday and my mother loves getting rid of junk.

I found the hubcaps from the car I learned to drive with, a 1966 Mercedes 200.

One of our beautiful Orpingtons went missing tonight.
I hope that she is roosting it out in the brushy area next to the house but in the event that's not the case the flock is on lockdown. We've had too many coyotes in the area.

scandiafowl, keeping my fingers crossed you find her when you do morning chicken chores. that is such a heart sinking feeling....

I've become obsessive about counting when I've left them out to graze while I watch - counting them afterwards is just about impossible because of the growth in the run. even when I call treats and pitch them some scratch, I can't quite count for certain.

WHen I was in duluth last weekend I got a couple hundred pounds of Dan's Feed Bin egg mash. The hens really like it. Just wish they were closer to me, its about an hour and a half from where I am. Or perhaps I'll win the lottery and start buying organic mash for 35 bucks a bag.

Anyone else love that popple smell in the fall?
