Minnesota!

I think that undies and muck boots make a bold statement.

I for one was glad to read your undies run post. I read it just before I went to bed. Right after my DW looked out the window and said it was raining. Which reminded me I had locked the Turkeys out of the coop because of the ED debacle. I could not leave them locked outside in the rain, so I ran out and opened their door to the front half of the coop.

So thank you..

Someone posting the above picture has no right to complain about someone who says the S word. I was mildly upset at the S word. BUT this pictures sent me into a full blown fit!! Sham on you Lala!!! SHAME SHAME< SHAME!!!

I have way too much work to do for snow to come. I have at least a week worth of work left to do.

Hey, about roosters.....

Ralphie's creamer roo crowed after he had been here a few days. tentative crows. but then, he let loose and crowed multiple times in a row. a hen walked over and semi charged him, no contact, roo backed off, and......I think he has been silent ever since.

He is eating, roosting with the flock, behaving normally, but no crowing. I think Ralphie said he is about 4 months old?

One of the benefits of roo's is that wonderful crowing. Do I just have to give it time? Should I be worried somethings going on? Or maybe he just feels too"junior" yet?

I don't think I've ever had a silent rooster unless there was another rooster there.

I am not sure of the age, I am guessing it hatched April to mid June. I know even my oldest Creamer does not crow a lot. I think there are two things Cream Legbars do not do much, lay eggs and crow.

It could be, and I think this is the most likely thing, the hen that charged him was the Alpha bird and she does not want to lose her position to the young upstart. She is going to defend it at all costs. The rooster being young and not having been dominant, just does not have the courage to challenge her yet.

(And here comes the statement to help get your blood rushing)........

When he realizes he is a male and nature made him the dominant sex he will become top dog,,,,,,,*

* Tell your Mom about this statement, to make up for that thing she said and I said Yes too without thinking!!! (ROMLMAO!!!!)

For the rest of you, know Lala's Mom is a sneaky ol lady!!!

In addition to what Bogtown said about Bag Balm is that it will also help soften the skin up and be more pliable, especially as it gets cold and coats the skin very very well. It started as something fair farmers put on their cows udders in winter so they wouldn't get frostbite on them, and so it will keep the skin pliable for milking them. The menthol in it also stimulates circulation which helps in healing too. So, clean first, use the stuff I posted earlier, then coat with bag balm. There is another brand called Dr. Naylors in a white and red tin. I just bought some Bag Balm the other day and since it is something I have seen used since I could walk, I went with that.

Would you recommend this over Vaseline for large combs on very cold days?

So the question hanging in the air is... Was it an undies run!?!

now Ralphie, this is gonna hurt but its for your own good. It is going to happen sooner or later.

What is wrong with you people?

You got me all nervous this evil rumor of snow is a fraud. I checked the weather. Look at what I saw:

I took a picture of our weather, as you can see I have at least 10 days to do my weeks worth of work in. SO I might just do nothing all day! I love living in Minnesota's Banana belt.
