Minnesota!

Just got done clipping all the girls wings. I didn't want to but the last couple days they have been up on the top of the fence and walking the wood pile close to my neighbors yard.I'm surprised they didn't go out of my yard.. Hope clipping them keeps them grounded..

Minniechickmama, hope you are feeling better soon

I have plans to make lefse now on dec 19th. A little late, and much discussion about whose lefse recipe to use and whether the potatoes should be all red or half red and half white, and how big the lefse should be anyway? Friends had very strong opinions on this. me? this will only be the third time I've made lefse and I'm still learning.

Drea, sorry about your losses. I live in dread of weasels, I don't think I can make the trailer coop weasel safe. And the quail run, no.
And the quail coop, well ever since the wind blew if over during a tornado storm a few years ago, its a little cockeyed and the door frame is no longer square, so there is a gap...

yikes.

Happy Birthday Scandia! that gift is great!

Coffee did you clip one wing? or 2? Just curious, i've never clipped any wings yet... Mine don't really fly more than a foot or two off the ground.

So for selling eggs we have started a facebook group so that we can reach out to our customers now that the farmers market is over for the year. Someone on here recommended we try introducing our chickens to the customers to keep things interesting so... we made a hashtag! haha im sure some of you are saying 'a what?' or maybe 'you mean that pound sign thingy?' haha

well none the less here is what we shared today:

We have had lots of customers ask about our chickens and are curious about them. This has inspired us to come up with ‪#‎MeetAChickenMonday‬ Each monday we will introduce one our fine-feathered hens here on our Facebook page. That way you can get to know where your eggs come from!
This week we would like to introduce Cheri!
Cheri is a silver-laced Wyandotte hen that came to our farm this spring. Her favorite activities include scratching in the garden for snacks and lounging under the asparagus ferns for an afternoon nap. If you have dark brown speckled eggs in your carton, you can thank Cheri!

I need to work on getting some better quality photos for next week, but so far it has gotten good response from our followers. What do you guys think?

I adore that idea KlopKlop and your customers will love it too. Seeing a happy and healthy hen producing their food is a nice reassurance. There's a reason they're coming to you for eggs and that's for ethical quality food. And it would totally feel fancy shmancy buying those eggs from beautiful Cheri! Ha! Cute cute idea. They're going to love it. Are you doing a little card or something for the egg carton as well. Certainly we like our electronic info. But I find people still enjoy those tangible tidbits as well.
