Minnesota!

Hello, all!! Love all the chick pics. hoping to get a few cx. Have to drive all the way to the Anoka Ramsey farm & garden center. Long hall. I don't even know if they have them yet.

Aren't you on the Southside of St. Paul? Runnings in Red Wing might have them, that would be closer, wouldn't it?

In fact, I was curious myself, so I called. Yes, they have CRX chicks now but no layer breeds until the 31st. They do something like every other week they switch off or something like that. Ducks won't be in until the end of the month too, I believe, but I didn't ask.

I am in South Minneapolis by South High. I work in New Brighton, so that makes Anoka Ramsey farm & garden center even closer.

You posted back before I saw it and called. LOL

Personally, I like getting my CRX from Strombergs. I like the rate of growth and consistency of size on them. I have done Straight Run and both the males and females grow very well. I even had one big boy a couple of years ago who was 8.5# at 9-weeks, which was a record for me. His live weight was 2 pounds more than everyone else. Unfortunately, when I asked the processor to split the two biggest ones, they didn't notice

that he was the giant in the bunch. I really liked their calmness too. Those I have like the most have come from New Mexico or Texas as a drop ship through Strombergs.

blanch, glad you could drop in!

Minnie, I opened the door to the quail run today and the little ones wouldn't venture very far out, not even 3 feet. But they were chattering and very excited, eating grass. I've been picking clover and dandelion for them, but they were stoked to actually get a little grass.

They were so hesitant, and kept running back to the run everytime something flew overhead or the wind blew.

Actually did some garden clean up today, cutting down old flower heads, etc. Got sunburned too! Wonder if I should plant some peas. Its danged early, but I have a feeling we aren't going to know whats up with all the weather changes anymore. Do you know my driverway never needed plowing this winter? Its crazy.....
